Porsche AG recalls 18,165 993 Cabs.
In the news today. If your 993 Cab was built between August 11, 1993 and January 26, 1998, it has been recalled by the factory for a safety issue that involves the convertible top popping open while the car is in motion. A reported 8,952 cars with this problem were sold in the United States market.
Can't imagine how that would occur, since I thought these cars had mechanically locking tops like the 944 Cabs do, but it appears to be a problem and the dealer network is addressing it by replacing the "electric top mechanism motors" with new improved units.
Sorry, but I couldn't find the press release in English anywhere. You may want to check with your local Porsche dealer.
