Default Rear wing auto up/down speeds

I'm fairly new to my 993 and love the car. However, one thing that bugs me is the rear spoiler raising at 50 mph. I mainly drive surface roads and regularly trip the 50mph point. Then a mile away, I stop at a light.

That said, the spoiler on my '95 gets quite a workout unnecessarily.

I searched the archives and . RUF apparently sold a module that would alter the rear wing trip points from 50mph(up) and 12mph(down) to something near 70mph(up) and 25mph(down).

I stopped by the RUF center in Dallas today and was told they no longer make the module.

Now to the question...... Has anybody built their own module to alter the speed trip points for the wing?

What side effects could one expect with altering the trip points? Is it an engine thermal issue or aerodynamic issue?

And, finally, would a DIY on building/installing a module be of interest to the group? This would be a non-profit thing.

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,

I would double check with Ruf at weissach (http://www.weissach.com/ruf_parts_de...id=R1161811200) for the availability of the ruf spoiler module. That is where I got mines and I have not had any engine thermal or aerodynamic issues with the module. If they are no longer making this module maybe they will do a short run for you if there is enough interest. It will probably be easier to pull that together than to re-engineer another module!!!

There was a group buy on the module a few months ago... stupidly, I wasn't involved. I for one would be interested in a DIY solution or another group buy!

They have them in stock at Weissach and would do a group buy for us.

Keep an eye on eBay. I got my Ruf module there for I think $120.

I put together the group buy for the module earlier this year. Go to the link posted by Keith and call Andrew. That's who I recall I dealt with. I find it hard to believe they don't make those modules anymore. However, I will say we bought out their existing stock and they did have to have some more made in Germany. Some of the people who bought them had to wait for the shipment from Germany. I think RUF has an outside company do the programing but I'm not sure. They use a regular Porsche module and reprogram it.

To find out more about their module use the search and type in my name and for the keyword type in RUF.

Aren't the 993's built for the German market set to have their spoiler rise at 70mph or something? Can you use a Euro part to achieve the same thing?

I vaguely remember something along those lines... ah the memory fades as old age advances.

Thanks,
Peter

There seems to be enough interest in a group buy.
Any of us that are interested have experience with this before?
