Default Wheel question for 993 guys

I purchased (but haven't received yet) a set of "993" wheels that are 17x8 ET70 front and 17x9 ET55 rears. P/N 993.362.126.01 and 993.362.128.00 They are for a 928 S4. Original 928 wheels have a high front offset 16x7 ET65, so finding some original Porsche one piece wheels with that much front offset is rare. '94 and '95 928 GTSs came with the same wheel, but different sizes/offsets: 7.5x17 ET65 and 9x17 ET 52.
What year/model came with these odd wheels?
Thanks

Hi Carl,

Welcome to the dark side..... You're not considering a 993 are you?

I don't know for sure but I *think* some of the 944 cars had the Cup 2 wheels. The high offset for an 8" wheel may apply to them.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I think we're all in the same boat, just with different paddles! At this point I don't think there is any Porsche that I wouldn't love to drive/own, but for the price of a decent 911 I can have 2 928s.
My guesses are either an optional wheel, a C4 wheel, or it's a rear size/offset (the front) and the set is mis-matched. The 993 wheels didn't appear until '94 on the 928 GTS, and then '95 on the 993 so a 944 is out. I still can't believe an original Porsche wheel could be that high offset.

I assume your question is directed to the 993 wheels you purchased. If so, the 8" (ET70) wheel was NOT a front wheel. It was specified as a rear wheel for winter tire application. Of course, this doesn't mean that you cannot use it as a front wheel on a car it fits.

A rear winter wheel? Interesting..... I knew there was a good story to explain this.

Carl,
I checked the P/N on PET and it shows your front wheels 993.362.126.01 to be a 9x17 with 70mm offset to be a winter wheel on Carrera and Targa cars.

It does exist..... I would have never guessed a winter wheel, though.

Post a pic when you get them mounted...... Which shark is the lucky one to get new shoes?

Scott, it is an 8" wheel, not 9.

They are both black/black. The '89 a/t has D90s, so the '87 5 speed gets the new shoes. I love them both, but the 5 speed is coooool.
pic is the '89
