Post 96TT in the garage 95 needs new home!

I picked up my 96TT this weekend and it is safe at home in the garage. It was a long day driving from Bay Area to LA and back. The TT is amazing.

The first thing you notice is how easily the engine revs as you attempt a smooth engagement of 1st. The clutch pedal feels light due to the hydraulic boost. So you need some practice before you overcome the jerky launches.

Once you are moving, all feels normal until you apply some pressure to the throttle. Then it is like Stars Wars. Light speed comes on very smoothly and you gaze down at the speedo and there are 3 digits. That big tail back there adds a level of attitude when you peek in the side mirrors.

My buddy in his SVT Focus drove me down and caravaned on the way back. Obviously, he was left far behind when we both stomped the go pedal on I5.

The audio portion of the car is also quite different. Even with no boost going on, there is an easily audible whine back there that increases as the boost gauge climbs.

At the first refill stop, a Fed Ex guy came over to give the car the once over and give me a compliment. At the next stop, the guy on the other side of the pump said to his friend "that is the turbo!".

Even the wife says she likes this one better! Life is good.

Now I need to say goodbye to my friend, a 95 Polar Silver/Midnight Blue coupe with 53k miles and factory M030 chasis, LSD, etc. This car has been lovingly pampered. If anyone is interested or knows someone, I would like to find a good home for her.

Jeff,

I didn't even know Pin had gotten a new 993. I had heard that the person he sold his last car to had put it up for sale. Did Pin buy it back or get a different car?

Yes, we must get together for a drive. I need lots of pointers from you TT guys on driving!

Hal

I remember the first time I heard a TT and was pretty impressed. I bet you keep looking out your window at the drive to see if it's real.

Talked to pin when I was looking for a car. Wouldnt mind going out for a group drive if I happen to be in town (this weekend

I envy people that do not have to travel weekly, wish I was home more often to drive the car.

Hal- Congrats....Did you get the Black car? I so, a Zaino treatment is in order.

We should do a drive...we should shoot for Sunday morning. I am sure the usual suspects will join...if there is interest, I will start an emial.

Hi Hal,

Congratulations on your new car I flew to Orange County this past Saturday to go to DJ's and drove back on the same day too...

Anthony, I'm all up for a drive this weekend but if it's on Sunday, I need to be back before 10:00AM for Church

Yes, I did get the black car and got my first lesson on black car care on Sunday when I washed the car. Even though the sun was hidden behind clouds, it was warm enough to dry the water before I could finish the wash and dry process. I wound up cleaning up the water spots with a damp cloth and immediately drying. I guess I need to wash earlier in the morning.

AC, I would like to get all of the gory Zaino details so I can become a convert. I have used Klasse products to date and have been very happy with the results on the silver car, but I guess I need to listen to the voice of experience and try the Zaino line of products.

Congrats on the purchase! Its been a bit over a year since I got my TT.It's every bit as exciting to drive today as the day I got it.I love that hi-tech sound of the turbo's winding up..reminds me of angry hornets! You hit .8 bars of boost and its like the thing should sprout wings..

Congrats to both Hal and Pin. Hal, you'll have a grin on your face every time you get behind the wheel. Pin, welcome back to the real world. I knew you couldn't be without a 993 for long.

Hope to see you guys on a drive soon.

Hal...not sure where you live, but I would be more than happy to walk you through the process. I will also let you borrow my supplies so you can try it out yourself...(I should probably state that I am NOT affiliated with Zaino yada, yada, yada...) I live in Hillsborough, if you are interested, send me a PM. If you can meet for a drive on Sunday AM, I can give you the stuff there as well.

I have everyting you will need to get the car in perfect condition. Again, I do this twice/year. Once in Spring and once in Fall. All it takes is a quick wash and dry in between bi yearly cycles.

Pin- Back by 10am, no problem. If we start at 7am, we can drive for 2 hrs...I will send an email to the usual suspects.

*******To all Bay Area Rennlisters, if you did not receive Mr Cliftons recent invite for the San Simeon drive, send me a PM and I will add you to the dist list.

AC
