Post Cab rear window replacement

Anyone have any experience in replacing rear window on a '96 cab? I heard Porsche changed the design in 1996 to make it easier (less $$$). Estimates on cost? Can any reputable convertible specialist handle the job?

I'd use the trim shop that your local Porsche dealer uses. (IF they don't do all of their trim work in house, and IF you can find out who that is...)

There's a whole section on how to do this in the Porsche maintenance manuals. Definilty not a DIY, but does not look overly complicated.

I believe you need a special tool for a heat type fusion when installing new window. I have not replaced mine, but heard is several hundred dollars. I know some new German canvas tops include the rear window, so may be option to price both.

What is wrong with back window ? Perhaps some aggressive cleaning can help. I saw one with many deep scratches that a random buffer made it look like new with proper cleaning compounds. The buffing out of deep scratches did take over one hour, but was worth it.

For shops, normally the dealers by me, vendor out.
