Default LA 993 Clear Bra Install PHOTOS

Another special thanks to Rich and Claudia for being such gracious hosts and letting Eric take over their garage the entire weekend! They brought us donuts Saturday morning and fed us a delicious dinner Saturday night. I got to adore their oh-so-cute puppy as well (*nice bonus).

It was nice to see those 993s! I actually saw a 993 TT on my way to work this morning. Normally all of them are in storage by now. We also managed to bring the LA weather back with us. The minute I landed last night it started to rain and was 46 degrees. Today we are expecting a high of 51 and it is raining.

Anyway, here are photos we took.

Nice looking install. On the hood, mine (done locally) ended right at the top of the crest. Murphy prevailed when one of the next 3 chips landed 1/4" above where the protection stopped. Next time I will drive to Chicago or wait till you come here.

Eric and I will be in San Jose Jan 7th through the 17th and he can redo just your hood piece for you if you like for $100. (which includes removal of the existing hood piece and installation of the new replacement 3M hood piece) He can do this within an hour (probably 45 minutes).

When Eric does the hood on the 993, he deletes the hood emblem cutout and instead removes the emblem to install the clear bra. This results in a much cleaner install and eliminates the possiblity of dirt or missed areas.

If you like, feel free to contact Eric directly at 847-321-1023 OR email him at eric@erodmotorsports.com

Does the material have a sheen to it? All the car seem to have extra gloss, or is it the lighting? They look great.

The 3M material has a clearcoat on it just like the clearcoat on normal paint and is designed to look like paint finish so it is more seamless to the eye when viewing on the car.

No, It is close but IMHO better... more improved product.

The Factory stuff tends to yellow and cloud over with time. The factory fender stuff is also thicker and more noticable. The 1st generation 3m material was also thicker but it doesn't have to be to provide good protection from rock chip damage.

This 3M material is the newest generation that just came out in May 2004. It has a 5 year warranty against yellowing. If you like, we can easily send you a sample to see for yourself if you like.

YES!!! This is part of what makes it a more difficult install where the end result will look much better with a factory trained installer (Plus, the more cars one does, the better they become at installation)

I was very pleased with the job Eric did - especially removing the hood ornament. This was "cut around" when I had my '99 boxster done - Eric's install was much cleaner. He did my lights as well and they worked fine on the long drive home in the rain. Excellent product and excellent install. My 993 is the 7th picture down (also the 6th but the lighting was bad) - glad to hear everyone got home safe and sound - how was work Monday Eric?
