Post Heat paint for rotors...

Do any of you (who track their cars)use heat paint on your rotors (green/orange/red)? If so, what color do you 'burn' into?

Chris, I used the color paint on my rotors for a while on my old 993. I have uploaded a high res pic to my website so you can see the result.
Brake paint pic

As you can see, the pic isn't that helpful. But here is the summary. I used it for a whole summer and every time I checked it it was not quite off the chart, but above the 650 degree C and less than the 800 degree C. If we assume 700 degrees C, than that equals 1292 degrees f. Now the outside temp can only have so much affect on that. I contribute it to poor airflow and I drive pretty hard. So unless you put on bigger brakes or ducts, you may or may not see similar temps.

Good luck and at least you will have fun during the experiment.

E. J.

I havent used the brakes hard yet as I haven't DE'd yet, only autox. It seems there is really not enough demand at autox to get any temps. I was just curious what temps can be seen at a track event... Thanks for the replies!
