Bushes for front wishbones
Peter, if you call G-Force they can do a nylon replacement for the front bush on the wishbone, which seems to be the one that gives up the ghost. I've had it done on my C4, nice improvement in feel of the front end and little if any noticeable degradation in ride/noise (though I do have PSS-9 & monoballs).
Peter,
I have 17" wheels (from 993 Targa, I like their looks) with 7mm spacers, Cargraphic strut brace, PSS-9, RS adj bars, FVD monoballs, nylon bushes in the front wishbones and Gert's front protection bar. Ride height and alignment are to RS specs.
Other mods are RS front discs (I have you to thank for that
), SRF fluid, stainless braided hoses, Techart brake cooling ducts, sintered diff plates, AMD re-map, SPG seat and RSR rear boxes. Plus a few cosmetic mods like the MY'02 gear lever/handbrake set from Gert and Atiwe airbag steering wheel with a 40mm extension.
Besides those items the car is pretty much bone stock
I'm awfully tempted to get a set of 100 cell Cats and equal length manifolds next, but getting the car through track day noise testing would be a problem (it's already a problem just with the RSR's). Maybe I can find someone to make a set of exhaust tips that face downwards to help a bit...

Huffwood, I have PSS9 sitting under my desk until I take a few days off. Deliberating between rear monoballs and Steve Weiner's new modified rear perch. Are you on 18s and happy with monoballs? (I know JohnM is happy on 17s, thanks). There's only about £70 difference in favour of the mod ($300 or so a pair vs €420 for FVD monoballs), so I'm inclined towards m ***** too. Comments welcome.... Cheers, Maurice

I love the monoballs. I splashed out and fitted Porsche RS all round. Had to get a couple of nuts made for the front as the shocks had too short a thread for the RS mount. I also use Michelin Cup tyres which definitely firm up the ride so I set the PSS9s to 1 less then the softest setting for road and 1 less than the hardest for track. I run RS ride heights and alignment. I find the ride firm but OK and at least it's all under control!! Some of the roads around Sussex get a bit hairy but then they do in my Passat as well.
For your info I had the rear monoballs fitted first and ran for a couple of weeks with rear monoballs and std fronts. The ride didn't feel a lot different. The real change came with fitting the front ones. Steering input was a lot more positive and the ride quality did change leading me to set the PSS9 softer for the road. If you are just fitting the rears then do it - you won't notice much of a ride change but the feel at the rear is definitely better.
