993 Cab : waterproof Top???
I have a 96 993 cab and a 98 Boxster. Water "beads" on the boxter top but is absorbed by the 993 top. It doesn't leak to the inside, but the outer fabric gets water logged. Is there some treatment that I should apply to the 993 top to make it water repellent like the Boxster. Does anyone know what the Boxster top is treated with?

Try Wolfsteins Raggtopp(no affiliation) available from Shadetreeonline.com. Just did my 964 and the water beads up and rolls right off. Great stuff. Do a search on Wolfsteins Raggtopp for more testimonials.

You can buy the waterproofing from any p-car dealer. Be sure to tape up the car AND the back window, as that stuff is hard to remove from those surfaces.
Once you do it, it will bead up.

I've found the Porsche Cabrio Top Protectant to be the best of other products. Make sure the seams are sprayed at least twice as they are cotton and can have a tendency to tear if not protected.

I've used Renovo available at CarCarOnline, who also recommend the Porsche product. The primary difference is one you apply by brush (Renovo) and the other you spray. If you're careful, Renovo requires a lot less masking and you can be confident that the top has absorbed the product.
Raggtopp is water soluble, so its waterproofing characteristics are dubious at best.

Stevarino, how could it be water soluble if water beads on the applied surface? I've used it twice in16 months. It is impossible to wet the top when washing, the water definately does not get absorbed by the fabric.

Yes, your waterproofing treatment has worn off. You can pick from any of the previous mentioned products. 303 also has a canvas top cleaner/waterproofing system that I have not tried. Do a search on Autopia.com(the Rennlist of car detailing)for more info.

Not to sound sarcastic but if you post a question shouldn't you read the answers? Look at the posts above; atleast 3 product suggestions as well as an authoratative web site.
