Default Sandblasted headlights......Fix?

Is there any alternative to replacing sandblasted headlight and foglight lenses, if not whos a good cost effective source?
By the way, I should have pics tomorrow of my "new to me" C4S for all those who I have been chatting with and who have so graciously help me with my "issues".

Not really anything you can do after the fact. Only preventative measures (i.e. painters tape at the track) have helped in my experience.

New headlight lenses are only about $75 a pop.

I've found them for even less. I'd say it would be an easy, cost effective way to freshen up the face of your car. Now, the foglights are a different matter.

If you check the archives, Rennlist member "993,951,944" used a clear lacquer on his pitted lights. I think it worked pretty well.

Try searching under "lacquer headlight".

Thanks guys. Seems Vertex has them for $79 ea. I found the post about the lacquer...interesting and worth a try. Can't be any worse than the haze the light shine thru now

Chris,

After installing the new lenses are installed make sure you install some Stongard lens protectors so it doesn't just happen again.

I installed some of the 3m stoneguard film on my headlights and the adhesive seemed to fill in many of the little pits. They looked much better after the install. I can still see some of the bigger pits, but if your car is not a show car it may be worth a try.

I found enough film for both headlights and foglights on line for about $20. I did have to make some paper templates, but that was pretty easy. I am sure you can buy pre cut kits as well.

Let me know if you'd like the link for the material. I think I have it at the office.

Anyway, it worked for me...

The headlights may be difficult to fix.

But I've had very good results with an orbital polisher (slow speed, low pressure and patience) and a "clear coat" cleaner compound. I use Meguiar but other brands should work well too.

Good luck.

Pete, would love the link to the materials. A friend of mine in the window business used to deal in that film, but I don't think he's got any left. I want to make some templates for the fog lenses too.

I did a google and I could not find the site I used last time. However, I did have a hit on a Rennlist sponsor ERod . I have not worked with him, but I have seen many of his posts. You may want to give him a call.

For reference, I believe I paid $10 for an 18x10 and a bit less for an 18 x 6 sheet of the 4 mil and $7 or so for shipping. That was enough for headlights and fog lights on the 993.

I'll post the other link in a bit.

Steve, no sandblasting is what has happened from road debris. My lenses have been "blasted" and I'm trying to figure out should I fix or replace.

Pete, thanks. Will try to get in touch this week. If you find the other link, post it.
