Post Just picked-up my C4S!!!

After driving my Boxster for almost 5 years, it was time to buy a new toy. I was going back and forth on a new 03 C4S or low mileage 97/98 C4S. I was going back and forth. Which should I buy.
After doing research and test drives, I finally made up my mind on a 993 C4S. I think this board was my deciding factors. I was wondering why you guys love your 993s so much! Now, I know why.
I'm very happy to be the owner of a 97 C4S in beautiful Pastel Yellow. I actually fell in love with the color and flew to Fort Lauderdale from NY and drove my purchase back. I had the PPI done at Champion Porsche. They tell me that only 18 of this color were made for a 97 C4S and only 8 of them are in this country.

Thanks for all of your excitement and enthusiasm for your p-car.

I saw a post once where someone said Pastel Yellow was no where near as desireable as Speed Yellow, but I happen to love the more subtle Pastel color of your car. It's less intense! I almost bought a pastel yellow car from Florida 5 months ago, but the owner didn't know too much about it, and it wasn't an "S" car.

Congrats. Got a digital camera?

James' purchase brings up a good point to something that I've been noticing for a while. Perhaps it's just me on the west coast, but I'm finding that the 993 values are holding better than 996 cars.

While it's true that the base price on the 996 was a bit less than the outgoing 993, it should be enough to weigh that much into the equation.

I'm seeing mint low mileage '95 cars go for about the same as a slightly higher mileage '99 model. For as long as I've owned 911's, this is the first time I've seen this phenomenon before. Anyone else seeing that in their market?

For myself, the only reason I didn't trade for a 996 was because it wasn't air-cooled. Honestly, it was as simple as that. I've also thought that air-cooled is pretty funky and wanted to keep driving one for as long as possible.

I'm sure most people have other reasons, but that's mine.

Thanks,
Peter

Thanks for all your enthusiasm. I have to borrow a digital camera from my friend and I'll try to post some pictures as soon as I'm able. I only own and like to take 35mm SLR. Long story....

But Peter mentioned a good point. Relatively speaking, our 993s are keep it's value compare to the used 996. It's a very strange thing. Besides the other technical items we all like about the 993, I think that was another reason why I bought a 993 and not a 996. beside the $40K or so more I had to pay for a new C4S, I knew that as soon as drove my new 03 C4S out of the dealer's lot, the car would depreciate a lot quicker than a 993 C4S.
