Slate Gray Metallic
First post; greetings everyone.
I think I must've read every post back to about May as part of my research for the purchase of a 95 or 96 silver 993 (still looking...) What a valuable resource this board is!!
Does anyone has any pics of Slate Gray Metallic on a 993? It appears to have only been an optional color (Q9) on the 1995 models.
Thanks,
Luis

Hi Luis,

Boy i wish i had 95k on me . . .

Resurrecting this thread so I dont have to start a new one.
Does anyone know what years Slate Gray Metallic (Paint Code L22D) were offered on the 993?? I am running into conflicting information. I have an acquaintance that has a 1998 Carrera S in Slate Gray, but Im trying to determine if this was a premium color option (obviously it would not be a standard no charge color), or a Paint to Sample color.
Paint to Sample would be $4,150 in 1998. I dont know how much it would have been if it were a premium color option. Arena Red in 1998 was $1,036. I assume it would be classified in that group.
My understanding is paint option pricing for Carrera S/C4S type cars were slightly different price structure than base Carreras because the S/C4S cars were mostly trimmed like Turbos.
In any case, knowing if Slate Gray was offered in 1998 would be a good start.

Slate Grey 22D was a special order color for 1995 only according to my information .. but that really doesn't mean much. Paint to Sample from a previous model year is a pretty common occurrence on these cars .. code 998 IIRC, for a moderate upcharge of course. I believe that code would appear on the under hood option code sticker, but the real paint code, L22D, and name would be listed on the inner drivers side fender under the trunk liner.
OOPS, nevermind. Just saw thread date and got a little excited.

I have a feeling 1998 Slate Grey is paint to sample. Its not listed on paintscratch.com or the 911 Handbook for 1998. I have found it listed a couple places online in various tables, but Im not sure how accurate those are.
Its either that or a $1,036 option for a premium color, but its definitely not listed as a premium choice either. Hmm.

For T Program (August 1995 - July 1996) or V Program (August 1996 - July 1997) slate grey is not listed as either a standard color or a special order color, so had to be ordered as paint to sample.
This is according to the Redbook.
