That's my 993 Turbo behind the RUF slope nose. He (Alois) told me that they only made 5 of those (slope coupes). And 2 cabriolet slopes...

Thanks for the great pics. I am an unabashed RUF fan. Wish I could be there. Worse yet, my RUF is still at Viperbob's. It'll be e lonely Thanksgiving.

Excuse my ignorance but I read on the Ferrari Chat that Ruf is considered an actual independent automobile manufacturer? Is that true? Do they have to do their own crash test/ emission? Always thought Ruf was just a tuner that had factory "approval" like Michelotto is to Ferrari and AMG was to Mercedes...

Yes, not like any other tuner. RUF cars actually have their own serial numbers.

RUF is recognized/accredited as a car manufacturer in Germany. There are two types of RUFs. Originals built by RUF that carry a RUF VIN, and conversions (like mine) that retain the original Porsche VIN.

So if you buy an orginal RUF, that are the manufacturer. If you have them do your conversion, they are a tuner. The RUF VIN cars carry much higher street value, naturally. Either version meets U.S. and Europen auto-design requirements, including, safety, emission, and appearance.

Do these RUFs have heat?
I do not see any heater blower unit.

Tour18, any pics of the R12 that you can post? I'm curious.

No R12 pics. He had a projector set up and there were a couple of almost life size profile pics. And and front shot. It was that cool metalic orange/bronze color with the classic Ruf 5-spoke wheels. At first I thought it was a 993 based car. No big scoops and such... Just a classic 993 Turbo look.

Alois handed the presentation over to Jacky and it was going from one "never shown before" to the next. The info was coming fast and faster. Major item to major item. I will get more info with pics.
