Default New shift ****

Just changed the original 993 shifter this weekend. Thanks to all the previous threads it only took me 3 minutes to do.

Here are some pics,

1 with the **** off the shifter
2+3 the old shifter off, it takes abit of pulling and prying with a srewdriver
4 the new **** had a screw that held it in place, instead of a rubber sleeve
5 the new ****

No need to get a new boot. Just cut the old boot at the **** level, insert the new shift **** and take a zip tie to attach it internally to the old boot. The Aluminum shift ***** come with a tightening screw as you saw in the pics. I did this with mine and it looks perfect! The worn out part is usually only the shift **** not the entire boot...

Whatever your name is... I believe that everyone is free to give his own opinion else there would be no use for this board..
Then whatever I do or do not let my kid do is not of your business...Then again FYI this is no street.

save your breath pal..

You're right Georges, everyone is free to offer up their opinion. And with regards to your child, I'm glad that's not a street. I was just excersing my right to express my opinion as you so elequently stated.
I'm curious Georges, what value do you find in critizing someone elses effort to improve their car?

Since you believe in freedom of expression ,you might have accepted my remark without adding to it your personal remarks that concern members of my family.

I am expressing a positive criticism that relates to my own personal belief regarding the issue. I am a believer that a car should be kept as stock and I am expressing my own feelings which is definitely not the belief of all other members of the board.

There was nothing positive about your criticism. As I first stated: if you can't say something nice....
My comment regarding your child was not about the child, but about you. Sorry if you somehow missed that. My point was that someone who posts negative comments and allows his child to play in the street, has bigger issues and should not be taken seriously as a critic. I'm glad that's not the case.
And Georges believing in freedom of expression is not remotely related to accepting your remarks. How would it make you feel after researching a modification and then actually performing said mod, someone pipes in with nothing more than "old shift **** was better". How does that help, educate, encourage, or support anyone on this board?

You never addressed my first query. What value do you find in criticizing someone elses effort to improve their car?
