Question Dilemma

Hi guys,

I just wanted your opinion on my "problem".
Yesterday we visited a friend of my father who is also a P fan.
So we started talking about Porsche of course....
He told me that he was a big fan of 993's as a surpise I told him that my 993 was on his front lane.
We went outside and he fell in love from the first second.
He asked me if I wanted to see his Porsche and I like to see as much Porsches as I can so we went to his garage.
He has a 965 Turbo S ful full option in mint condition with 30000 miles on the clock.

At the end of the evening he asked me if I would like to trade his car with my 993.
So the question is, should you do it?

The 993 extra's:
3.8 engine
full carbon interior
PSS 9
Alu shift + handbrake
Short shifter
Full Techart exhaust
Techart chip
motorsound with K&N
TT nose
Alu doorsills
etc...

Question is, how do you feel... is it a trade up or down for you? If the car floats your boat and is in as good a shape as your car, why not?

I would have the car inspected and treat it like I would any car that I would be purchasing. I assume you would reciprocate just so the 2 of you weren't "surprised" by what you traded for.

A turbo "S" ? There were only 81 of those built and only a few like the one shown. You should have closed the deal on the spot, hurry before he changes his mind. If you don't like it, take it, sell it, and buy yourself a mint 993TT with all the options you like.

I'm with Jean. The 965S is faster than your 3.8, yes? And while the 993 is undoubtedly pretty, that Turbo is easy on the eyes in its own brutal sort of way.

Jean,
I wonder why the turbo S owner does not do that himself, if he really prefers 993s...

im not a 964/5 expert, but doesnt a "S" have different bodywork such as intake holes in the fenders or flatnose. What exactly does a 965 "s" have to make it different from the 3.6 turbo?

Phil,
I don't why he does not, but a clean nice colour Turbo S should sell around $85k as a low estimate. Rob, I cannot tell from the picture if it is a real one or not, and I am on the move so I do not have my references but the Turbo S had aluminum doors and hood, a 381 hp engine, a different tail wing, no rear seats, lightweight rear windshield, and a few more things.

If the car is what you say it is, you have a straightforward arbitrage opportunity, that is if you don't like the 965, which IMHO is a nicer and more exclusive car to have.

hallo
This is a Turbo 3.6 ,not a Turbo s . Here in Europe they go for around 50 K Euros with that mileage
, that is about 10 k more than your car . I would jump on the Turbo as it is a limited car , the last single Turbo and the last 911 with the original face .

Just called the guy to ask him a few details about his car. So I asked him what exact model his car was...
Well it's definetly NOT a 965 Turbo S Leichtbau but it's a 965 Turbo S2!
This is an important difference because the Leichtbau is like you guys said very rare and expensive. So with this information what should I do?

The 965 S2 is a really wonderful car and limited very limited in production. I almost purchased one a year or so back. If you are interested in a great deal, make the trade as the S2 is a more valuable car. I love my 993, but I really love the exclusivity of the S2 and its incredible accelleration. Drive it and you will be hooked. A fair warning- the S2 is a really brutal car in its performance. The 993 is much more refined... What a wonderful dilemma!

Trade it, resell it if you don't want it, buy the best 993 TT around, keep some cash in the bank, buy your wife a present.
