But the Ceccotto edition is no doubt a very nice collector's though.

Yep it's a beautiful car and at £10K versus £20K for a 964, even though it's LHD, good value. I suppose on a tight windy track it would keep close to a 964 but anywhere else?......forget it!
Sorry to hear about your engine problems with the car Anir. Last spring based on opinions from you and others I almost ended up in an M3 but ultimately passed it up for an Audi S4 when the dealer kept insisting on "dealer mark up". A wholesaler friend also told me to pass up the SMG. Even back then he told me the SMG is perfect for track but around town it's "just not there yet". His feeling was/is that the next generation of SMG will do the trick. Anyway, I still think the exterior styling of the M3 is beautiful.
I wonder why BMW doesn't neglects mentioning the fact that the piston speed of the E46 M3 engine approaches F1 piston speeds. No wonder rod bearings spin! I too have owned an E30, E36 M3, but have not gone for an E46. Early on, there were reports from Europe that these engines where having rod bearing problems. There was a delay in shipping the cars to the USA, after this was "rectified". I feel the pain.
