![Question](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/icons/icon5.gif)
Last week the was a thread where several of us had scraped rear bumpers, near the exhaust tip. I was one victim. I'd like the board's wisdom on whether I should fix it or not. The damage is minor-- a small bend right next to the right exhaust and a couple of hairline cracks in the surrounding paint. But, it does irritate me to have even a flesh wound. Would the stigma of having replaced the bumper and repainting it lower the value more than having the car say as is( But I don't plan on selling sone, but you never know). Thoughts?

I don't think that any of us really intend to sell our cars, but things change in life.
There were several other threads in the archives dealing with repainting the front bumper and whether it would hurt resale, etc.
I'll give opinion again. I do not think that it would hurt the resale value to repaint the front or rear bumper. In fact, if I was a buyer, I'd appreciate the previous owner doing it for me, provided that they did it professionally and it was NOT done to hide some sort of collision.
Perhaps you can use this opportunity to upgrade to the euro rear bumper?? ( Sorry, I'm opening up the flood gates here! )

I would just take some pics of it and file it away so you could show it to the next owner, then fix it. If you don't fix it you will look at that spot every time and cringe. Good chance the front or rear bumper on your car was repainted or touched up during the delivery process anyway. Heck those guys even manage to total a car or two occasionally.

I'd repair it.
Like Greg said, take some before - after photos.
if you think about resale value, I'd say it hurts if you have that damage, it would look (for the buyer) that this guy doesn't care much about his car etc.)

I went to an autopaint store and got some durafix epoxy, patched it from behind. I'm waiting to see how much I notice the little crack. I might try masking it off and putting a touch of clearcoat over the crack on the outside...so I don't chip the paint.
Good luck

I got my rear bumper cover dented and cracked the other day. Insurance will cover it (less deductible). So I will try to make a positive out of it by getting a Euro bumper cover...I need to figure out how to get my hands on one. The auto body place could only pull up the US spec covers on his computer (ordering thru the local dealer), but he said if I give him the part number or source for the Euro cover he'd install it no problem. Gert?

Yep, He's the man.
BTW, when he does it, do you mind taking a photo or asking im how he removes the aluminum pieces where those bumperettes are attached. I'll take them out and I'm pretty sure there are couple of rivets on lower part of them but just to be sure...

I just discovered a storage room in our building...
It's already almost full but luckily there was even bigger where I could switch.
I better start moving my stuff...
BTW, did you received my e-mail (about Sebring)? I've had problems with my e-mail & I'm wondering whats happening with my e-mails.
