'66 Chevy El Camino
283 V8, PowerGlide 2-speed automatic

I restored/hot rodded it, drove it daily for ~8 years. I've still got it; it's sitting in my garage awaiting another restoration.

Didn't notice any PONTIAC ACADIANs in the replies... so that was my first car.

If you slammed the door, the window would shatter (happened to me twice), and if you broke too hard, the engine died. What a POS.

I'm not a 993 owner yet, so I may not qualify for this survey, but oh well.

OK...

Citroen 2 CV (Nol - I hear you! Tho' this one spent more time in fields and woods than on the road. Eventually killed it by jumping it so often that engine block was shifted 7" backwards. The 1st gear position on that crazy stick went to where reverse had been!)

Land Rover LWB (Had so many lamps on it that I had to install three batteries just to keep it going for more than 2 hours.)

Merc 230TE Estate (got from my Dad) with the chrome rails on the roof and the body-colour and chrome hub caps. Great car to have at Uni - maxed out with 18 people in it once.

BMW 325i which I fitted some fat 5 spoke alloys to and then spun it 300 metres from my home after a year of ownership.

Ford Puma - did the US ever get this genius little go-kart of a car?

Toyota Landcruiser LWB - Spent charging around Australia's exceptional Kimberely Mountains and the Gibb River Rd.

Honda S2000 - a hugely underrated car with the benchmark manual gearchange (I still miss that bit).

993 TT - well, I finally got what I always dreamt of.

Good thread. <img src="graemlins/xyxwave.gif" border="0" alt="[bigbye]" />

Looks like this isnt going to end...
As soon as I earned enough to buy my own car (Dad would never get me one.)
Blue Toyota Startlet - very cute little motor
Honda Prelude 1985 Model - Very sentimental when I had to junk that, Cracked auto gearbox.
CLK
And then my first 911 c2

Love em all...

1973 Cultass "S" with swivel buckets, factory sunroof and 350 rocket. Fast car, but burned gas (and what little money I had) at an alarming rate.

I bought it for $475 from my uncle with the money I made from my bike shop! let my dad trade it a year later to a guy who paved our driveway (would have cost ($1400-1,600) so we did well.

Bins,

Me too!! Me too!!

My first car was a 1988 Toyota Starlet in the usual Toyota pesudo Ferarri Red. Loved the car cos of the fantastic airconditioning. ( A real BIG deal in this neck of the woods!) Used to always turn it off (A/c I mean) to overtake and after a while, my friends sitting in the front passenger seat would do it automatically themselves. I still see the car on the road ocassionally.

After that..

Green 1989 Peugeot 205 Auto
Green 1983 BMW E30 320i coupe manual
Silver 1981 Merc 280 SLC
Silver 1991 BMW E34 520 (Built like a tank but supremely underpowered with the old 12 valve engine)
Black 1992 BMW E36 320i coupe auto
Avus Blue 1994 BMW E36 M3 coupe
Black 1998 BMW E46 328i saloon
Midnight Blue 1995 993 RS

1983.5 Black Rabbit GTI. For those in the know the '83.5 had some improvements over the 83 (can anyone tell what they were...) All of 90 horses and "fat" 185/60 tires in 14" aluminum rims. Sticker was $7,995 but I got stuck with a 15% (or so) loan.

Gave it away ($100) 11 years later with a coporate relocation when the company would only pay to move 2 vehicles. I still regret that. Great little car and engine to work on.
