Post Looking for a Roll Bar

I'm interested in installing a roll bar in my 98 Cab. I'd prefer one that could be removed between track events.

Any leads are appreciated!

The DAS roll bar bolts up to existing holes. I can remove it in about an hour or less. If I had a cab it would be more like 1/2 hour. Rennlist home page has a write up on this model.

Bill, I've been thinking about the DAS bar too. Do you have to remove either seat to get the bar in/out?

And, where is the write-up you mentioned? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks!

I installed mine w/o removing either seat, but at the same time haven't been inclined to pull it out between DE events, either.

John,

Here's where I found the info:
http://www.das-sport.com/data/rollbar.html

Good luck!

I too have the DAS bar. It can be installed in an hour or so without removing the seats. You will probably not want to take it out between events... unless you only attend one event a year that is. You do have to remove the rear seat backs for the install.

It arrives unpainted, so you will have to either spray it yourself or take it to a body shop and have it painted. Many folks have it painted to match the exterior of their car.

I have removed my bar twice for access to other things. In a coupe it seems impossible to get out without removing the passanger seat. In a Cab the removal is pretty simple I would guess.

I take that back, with stock seats you can release the back rest and adjust the seat forward. My seats are fixed so the must be removed.

I saw all your posts and I think I'm going to plunge on a DAS purchase for my 95 Cab since these DE events are becoming more and more addictive!
Any ideas on what is the best procedure to paint it with durability and looks in mind?
I have seen on the list that people spray paint them, coat them etc.
On the same token I do not want it to cost an arm and a leg...

I would get it powder coated. Should be more durable than spray paint. Probably cost $100.

Wait about 3 weeks and you can pick one up for 50% off. Many cars are going to full cage so the DAS bars will come out. Nothing wrong with a used bar, like a used anchor, whats to wear out?
