Default Anyone familiar with OMP-Big Seats?

Hello men,
I did a search and only found 1 thread from 2003 about OMP Big seats. The car is a wide body and so am I. I am 5'10" and 235 lbs......(I know the easiest weight reduction for the car is the driver........I'm trying) Will I loose any head room with the seats if they are mounted on sliders (for multiple drivers)?
Will they have to be hard mounted to keep the head room?
Does anyone have any real track time in these seats? Do you like? How "big" are you? Where did you purchase? Any pictures? OMP web site does not have any pics of the seats.
Thanks,
Tony

I have have done some reseach about them. Great seats but I am afraid they might be a bit to broad for the 993. The shoulder area seems to broad to fit 2 seats in the car. I will be checking that in a month or so so I will inform you.
Cheers

I was just looking at the catalogs which have the dimensions, but OMP does not list them for the Big and nor does Sparco for the Evo XL. I can say that the Evo L (previously the Evo 2) just fits inside the door and depending upon the brackets used will rub against the center console toward the front. that seat is about the largest I have seen fit into a 993.

For reference, the dimensions of the the Evo, Evo L and Evo XL are:

A = should width at wings
B = Hieght from bottom of seat to the should winglet
C = width of seat at hips (cushion seating surface)
D = width at waist
E = Height from bottom to top of the back of the seat
F = depth of seat from front to back looking at the side of the seat.

Evo:
A=60, B=61, C=50, D=46, E=89, F=46
Evo L:
A=61, B=60, C=54, D=47, E=88, F=48
Evo XL:
Don't know.....

There is essentially 4 cm extra width in the seat width over the Evo.

Hope this helps!

I cant say enough about the Cobra Imola2 GT seats. They are quite large, but fit very well in the 993. No rubbing on the door panel or the center console. I have my drivers seat bolted directly to the floor (for max headroom), pretty far back and no crashing into the tunnel.

I am 6'1.5", 245lbs and I fit fine, actually I could use some lateral shimming with foam to make me a tighter fit. These also have FIA side impact certs and are of Kevlar/fiberglass construction. The seat fabric is high quality as well. No affiliation, just happy with these seats..

Chris,
Do you think the Imola is a comfortable enough seat to use in a daily driver that sees the track 6 - 8 times in a year?

Come on over to my house and we'll go for a ride

Seriously, yes these are comfy, for a race seat, but everyones type of comfy is different. Best would be to find someone local to have a testing sitting..

I found that I liked these more than the Evo 2 seats. Just my opinion..

That's good to know about the evo2 comparison. I have been looking at those also. I'm sure that I would find them comfortable by track standards. Its the wife in the passenger seat standard that has given me some consternation - the reason I have given serious thought to the Cobra Daytona (a little more give than the Recaro Speed) as one compromise b/w performance and comfort. I guess I will continue to think about his for the next couple of months as Winter rolls in here.
Must be nice to have year round motorsporting fun!!

The ruling is in................OMP BIG will not fit.

I ordered 2 OMP Big seats from Colin at CDOC with the understanding that they may or may not fit. I went to the shop (Dougherty Automotive) to check on the install and there was no way they were going to fit. We did put them in the car and the doors would not shut.

As Chris suggested, I tried the Cobra Imola 2 GT seats in the car. While I'm still a little too large for the seat, the seat fit great in the car. I had them mounted directly to the floor for max head room and a lower center of gravity.

Since I have purchased the seats, I now have to get in shape and lose some wieght for the upcoming season.

FYI to all

Tony, at which level was the OMP Big wide so the door could not close? Shoulders or lower?
Any possibility that you can tell me the distance between the widest part of the Imola seat (shoulders) and the door? Thanks

Alex,

Have you looked at Recaro Sport rather than speed? Very much like stock Sport Seats -- supportive but easy to get in and out. Available in leather and their Topline powered/heated version has no back rake ***** to interfere with installation. I like the model specific mounting brackets too.

No affiliation, just like 'em.
