Question ISV Cleaning

I performed the ISV cleaning and reinstalled the valve using the procedures outlined here and on P-car.com. Now my idle is sometimes around 800, sometimes at 1000 rpm (was at 650 before).

Is there something that must recalibrate? I didn't see any mention of the use of a lubricant and thus far, I haven't. Any suggestions? (other than "If it ain't broke, don't fix it")

I just did mine recently too with excellent results.

Did you just clean it or did you loosen and rotate the cylinder?

Was the interior very dirty? Did you clean it out well? (You have to be VERY clean and careful) Did you make sure that it moved freely throughout it's entire range of motion? Sticking will cause the different rpm range. A common mistake would be to poke in there and create a burr on the aluminum which would cause a sticking point. Just a thought.

Just cleaned it. Although I moved the interior shutter a bit, I can't say that it rotated freely. There's only a small opening to get a finger or Q-tip in.

Maybe I'll clean it again and use a pipe cleaner or something which won't scratch to try to ensure it's moving.

Take it and rotate it quickly in your hand while looking inside it. The aluminum cylinder should rock back and forth freely from the momentum of your shaking it. If it doesn't then something, likely gumming, is causing it to stick.

You can also sort of fill it up with solvent and shake it like a mixed drink. That gets it in there real good. Cup in in there with your hands.

Or another option...I just replaced mine, considering it had over 90k miles on it... Cost me around $100 or $150 (can't recall).
