Thought you might like to see some photos of a beautifully restored 962. It is one of the finest I have seen. It is just ready for some shake down testing at the track....I am hoping for a driving opportunity... We'll see

How are you gonna get TRG bars on that one??? Or, are you gonna install a HWF?
Seriously though, keep any Chlorinated chemicals away from that thing..or at least away from all the Titanium components.. It will etch and create stress fractures on any of the Ti parts. Which the 962's were full of
Wish I could stop by and have a look. The 962 is my all-time favorite race car! WAY COOL Bob!

Hi Bob,
I told Ash that us coming to your shop is like kids going to the candy store. The 962 is simply INSANE!!
Amazing thing is that its' only 1,800 lbs. With 520 HP on a K27 turbo, this thing can still up its performance significantly if Bill chooses to. Having seen you get in and out of that contraption, I wouldn't even try.
I'll have to remember my camera each time I come visit.
Thanks for posting.

You lucky somb****, correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't that one of the last rides in GTP that the Andretti klan raced. IMO those were some of the best days of IMSA. You cannot imagine what those things looked like coming off the tri-oval into the infield section at Daytona at night. The sound of turbo belch and sight of exhaust flame was a thing of beauty. Please tell us more about this car and thanks for sharing.

Chris - All the titanium and magnesium components on the car are pretty much brand new and will never see a chemical...
Rich and Tom - I am not sure of the histroy of this car at the moment. It was badly damaged in '96, when it met a concrete wall head on. The complete front end was rebuilt by Fabcar with stronger and thicker components. I will get some more info and post back. The car is AWESOME though. Sitting inside the cockpit is unreal. This car will be doing some on track testing starting real soon. I can't wait.
The gentleman that owns it runs a specialized machine service with 28 CNC machines and lathes. When he runs out of magnesium center lock nuts, he says he just cuts out a few more on one of the machines.. Not too shabby...

This 962 WAS a surprise treat during my visit today! It was great finally to meet you Pong...good to see a Ruf up close too! Agreed, that 962 was completely insane...the engine bay was a work of art...I can only imagine what it must be like to pilot that thing!
On another note, Bob's shop looks amazing with gobs more room...just a little bit bigger than the garage back at the old house...hehe! It was really cool seeing all the 993's and 928's parked inside and up on lifts. The storage room was pretty crazy...lots of room but I sure wouldn't want to be the guy organizing all those engine blocks and spare parts !!
Thanks again Bob for checking the codes and clearing the CEL!
