Post Lowered Car - Road Rash!!!!!!!

Much to my horror I determined yesterday that I have scraped the front underside of the front bumper - read "rash" - likely in the %^&$#@ underground parking at my office. Is this a difficult problem to (1) address (i.e. fix to original condition) and (2) protect against the risk of future damage. Is Gert's solution a must have?

FPB is highly recommended.

PWC,
Gerts FPB is the only wat to fly with a lowered ride height. My car is below RS spec and I scrape every now and then but only the bar takes the hit. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/beerchug.gif" />

I just installed the PSS-9's and lowered the car, and inadvertently took a wallop on the front end today. I expected the worst, but examination showed an mildly scuffed Gert FPB with no other damage to the car.

I agree with above praise about Gert's FPB. So far, most if not all scrapes have been absorbed by the FPB, and not the bumper.

I know that since I had to get my front bumper repaired (due to my dog chewing on it) a few months ago.

FPB touches bottom almost everyday when I back into my inclined parking space.

Just enter steep driveways at an angle. I have the RSCS front spoiler with an extended lip in front and do not hit anything. You can get by most driveway entrances without any issue, you just have to be aware always!

The only problem with Gert's FPB is that most people get it AFTER they have a bad road rash incident.

I would have gotten it earlier, had I known what was about to happen as I entered a steep driveway.

so i just got the FPB and i'm conflicted about putting it on. here are my thoughts on the topic:

1. my underside already has some scraping/rash. so it's not like i'm keeping it pristine at this point.

2. the fpb weighs a good 10 lbs. why add weight to the car? i do realize the weight is down low, which is a good thing.

so if anyone wants a bar - i'd be happy to part with mine - never opened new !

cheers,
boris

Hi PWC,

I scraped the bottem of my old PU the day I got the car so was understandably pissed off. On inspection they seam to be made out of old Rubbermaid containers so a few scratches (if out of site) are not going to do any harm (ie no rust implication). You might want to check that you still have your drain plugs as one of mine had been knocked off.

Cheers,

David

I have the front protection bar not yet installed but will it work with RS front splitters?

The RS front splitters come out front of the car quite a bit...so the bar does not totally protect them. Its really easy to hit the front of the splitters...I have them so I know, ;-). but still worth getting. One of my projects on my to-do list is to build a bar to protect my RS splitters...it would have to be wider than the regular bar.
