Post London, UK Trip

Hey Gang,

I'm going to be in London for a week. Is there anything I can pickup/bring back easily, for my 96 993?

Maybe something that's not quite that easy to get here in the US?

Hello!

Off the top of my head I can't think of anything over here that is cheaper than in the US...though you may want to take a look at some 993 related websites in the UK, somthing may take your fancy.

Whereabouts you staying over here?

I'm staying in Slough, Berkshire. Somewhere close to Windsor?

I do have a weekend there (by myself). Any recommendations on what a Yank might get into?

Thanks!

Well, I live in Burnham about 1 mile from Slough (unfortuntely, as Slough is a sh*thole!). And I work in Langley which is about 1 mile the other side of Slough so let me know when you are over and we can hook up.

Send me an email r.cownley@covenco.co.uk

Well I guess Slough hasn't changed much since I left England 15 years ago.

I used to live in Maidenhead and Slough was the nearest place to take the driving test. It was so nasty when I was there that I drove the extra distance and took my driving test in Henly on Thames.

Come to think of it wasn't there that old World War 2 saying-

"Come German Bombs and fall on Slough,
It cannot be any worse than now"

Sachin Misra, Windsor and Eton are near Slough and are great places to visit.

Rich, Slough has not changed, it sounds like you left at the right time.

I also lived in Maidenhead (Pinkneys Green), and took my driving test in Henly....but I'd rather be living in Boulder!

Funny you mention that poem, (by John Betjemen), we have it hung on the wall of our office.."Come friendly bombs, and fall on Slough, for it isnt fit for humans now". Spot on.

Wow is that weird,
I used to live in Maidenhead as a child.
Slough - mmm - I cant remember much about the place, I guess I blocked it out.
No wait, isn't that the junction on the M4 where I have to turn on 'recirculation'.
I'm sure it'll be fine Sachin.

You may be interested in a trip to Cornbury House - the head of Porsche Club GB.
Sometimes they have Porsche artifacts on disply.
But it may be takeing this Porsche thing alittle too far. I must admit that I havent been there myself.

Enjoy your trip
Tito.

Hi,

why not let us know what dates you'll be over and we'll try ot make an impromtue gathering at a suitable pub.

As ever, evenings are best for me, but I'm sure we can still get a small gathering together.

BTW Burnham, has your mate run that new M3 in yet ?? ;p

Cheers,
John.

Hi Burnham,
Good,
Yourself?
Good idea John, I'm up for it.
By 'run in' are you referring to the first or the second engine.

Sorry Burnham I couldn't resist - its probably subconsious jealousy.

Best wishes
Tito.

Depending upon when you arrange this pub trip, please count me in as it would be good to meet some fellow members.

Cheers,

David

Great ! I'll be in Slough from Sept 30 through Oct 6. Don't really have much planned for the weekend (4th or 5th). I'm flying back on the 6th. Either of those nights would work. Can't wait to meet you guys. I'll even buy a round!

I can make the 4th, but not the 5th.

Just needs the others to decide when they can make, and which place to meet.

See you in a week !!

Cheers,
John.
