Anyone install a Fold out Alpine head unit in their 993?
I have one right now that is not huge, but probably ends up folding out to about 4-5mm above the standard opening. Fits fine in the 996, although the fog light switch in the 993 is pretty darn close to the stereo opening--I was wondering if anyone has any feedback on if they have tried to install a unit like this in a 993. [It is not one of the full screen things, just a little bit bigger, mp3+CD player, XM-Radio ready].
Any input is appreciated

Do you me a "fold out" that oupens out to insert the CD and with a tilt display (say like a 9835)?
If so, yes, I have an older model of the same thing in my 993. Fits/works fine. I'm about to have a 9835 with iPod box and XM installed in my ML430.

I have a 9830 in my 993; the face folds out and down to put in a CD and also "rotates" to a couple of different angles to avoid glare. It does not interfere with the switches above.

This is the only pic I could find of it--notice how the top of it is a bit higher than the top of the main Head unit holder thing [the technical term]...it is the CDA-7998...

Hi Folks:
Mentioned Alpine line of receivers, I found this place, in the internet, much better price. I have dealt with them twice now, ordered some Infinity Kappa Speakers with no problem at all. No affiliation what so ever, just helping fellow rennlisters to save a few bucks for other modifications.
