Talking New wheels!

I just put my Porsche 02 TT look wheels on my C2. Other than the color (which is due to be changed when my TT S nose arrives) I really like the look.

Gert sells these too, but I was lucky and found a set of 500 mile take-offs on ebay from our friends at Suncoast.

These are an Exclusive option wheel set. The fronts are 8x18 et 50 with 225/40-18, and the rears are 10x18 et 65 with 285/30-18. Boy are they tight in the back! No rubbing to report so far...

I can't wait to get them painted Polar Silver!

Incidentally, the Michelin Pilot Sports are a really great tire. Much, much quieter than my SO2s. Even though I went to a lower profile, the ride is less harsh.

Cheers!

Thumbs up

Hi Tom,

Nice looking wheels but please paint them as you look like some kind of Gumball Rally outcast!

Just a thought but what were they on before as it must have looked bloody awful, assuming it was a white 996. I have seen one white 996 at the Essen motor show and it was not a good look.

Seriously though, once they are painted and you have the nose on it will look great. I agree with you on the Pilot Sports - they are very quiet.

Cheers,

David

I like the color of the wheels. You should paint the car to match them.

Aren't they on wrong - the "vanes" in the wheels should be going the opposite direction. Try putting the wheel that's now on the right rear on the left rear and the wheel that's now on the right front on the left front.

And in the theme of "it's a small world", I was just driving around the city today and noticed a silver 993 with what I "thought" were white wheels, but couldn't tell because it was travelling in the opposite direction.

And here they are on Rennlist...

Should it matter if the wheel is on the left or right? Unless the 996 turbo wheels have different directional "vanes" specifically for left/right applications.

Small world. I am out in Lake Forest Park. Where are you located?

Incidentally, I took a look at the pic of your car, and it looks great! The turbo nose is so much better than the stock C2 nose.

If you see me again, make sure to wave!

J-McDonald - Interesting thought, and it would help with brake cooling a bit... however, the rears are the same, and the fronts are the same. Turbo Twists are also in pairs.

Given your hypothesis, that would make four unique wheels for each corner. I think that it would be too expensive to make that many types of wheel for one car...

Before you paint your wheels polar silver, consider painting them lighter. I had my wheels touched-up a few years ago with a lighter/clearer silver than polar silver. The guy called them "porsche silver" for wheels or something..

I like the contrast of the wheels with my polar silver coupe...just another chaps thoughts - either way, killer car and wheels!

I like the wheels, but silver and white doesn't look so good together. My personal opinion indeed. Why do I think so? Figure it out

I brought up the question of "directional" wheels before, and the general opinion then was that they are not directional - i.e. the "vanes" will look different on each side of the car.

Oleg,

I think that your car looks really good with the contrasting color. I will definitely look into this color for my repaint. I wonder if this is the factory color for these wheels?

TomF,

Hey, residing over here in quiet Redmond, WA. I think I saw the car in Seattle though. I never forget a car, but everything else... poof! Took a couple of days off work to show the in-laws around town.

Unfortunately, I was driving the SUV around, so I think you'd probably think it was weird if I had actually waved.

Thanks,
Peter
