June Excellence had two 97 C4Ss with 30K miles that sold for $46-$48K. Seems like low to mid 40s is more reasonable, but local market conditions, color and options (both pretty desirable) may bump it a little. I wouldn't pay $50K for a 96.

Dennis,
This car sounds like it's exactly what you've been looking for. Last summer I was looking for a Black/Black C4S. For me, it had to be this combo. I eventually found one in great condition (one owner car) and I paid $53k for it. Was it a little high? Probably, but it's exactly what I was looking for.

I would pay more for a '96 if it was exactly what I wanted compared to a '98 that was orange w/ purple interior.....

$50K is perhaps a little high but that's a popular color combo, it was my second choice when I was looking. Don't sweat the '96 at all, it's the same car and a '96 with good care is better than a '98 with slightly less care (miles being the same). Most non fanatics could care less if it's a '96, '97, or '98 just get the best one out there that you can afford. Is it close enough to drive home? That could save you shipping. Color combo is important I take it so you might want to move on this one, good time of year to be a buyer as well so you might get it a little cheaper, he doesn't want to store it if it's in a cold climate and sell it in the spring I would guess. Good luck, looks like a great car.

Pretty car. If that's the color you want and it is really mint then $50K isn't too bad...but a little high. If you want black there is a near perfect 2x,xxx mile '97C4S in Florida for low $50's in traderonline.com

Lots of sound advice here - if it's the one you have looked for jump on it. I did when I found my '95, paid close to the max suggested in Excellence magazine but it's a near perfect car and I have not looked back - I am very happy! My wife says money well spent.

I think it is about $5k high. But cheap if it is the car you really want. Everything right on a car is worth some pretty big $$. Don't pass on something that is just what you are looking for, for a fist full of dollars. Buy it and drive it like you stole it.
Good luck. I hope everything works out fine.

I also think its a bit high... but by how much? I could live with up to $2K... but $5K and my rip-off sensor goes bonkers and I have to pull the ripcord.
