Post BBS LM 18x11

Hi, what is the offset for the BBS LM 18x11 for 993? Do they fit narrow body car? Joe from Fabspeed says yes and recommend me to put 265 wide tire in order to fit. But to my knowledge the max wheel width you can go with a 265 tires is 10.5 (wheel width). Anyone ever put BBS LM 18x11 on their narrow body?

I run 11" BBS race wheels on the back of my 993 narrow body. I don't know the offsets. My fenders are rolled and the clearance is tight but works. I run 285 Hoosiers on the rear.

ele,

I have been through this will Joe and 11" wheels. If you are not going to race then just put 10" wheels on the rear. 11" wheels do not make much sense if you are only putting 265's on it. What is the point? 265's are small for 10" wheels as it is. I use them on the street and the wheel lip still sticks out beyond the tire. I also run 275 and 285 Hoosiers as well as 285 Pirelli slicks and I do not have 11" rear wheels. I have been looking at Yoko slicks and will need an 11" rear given their specs and available sizes. I have one set at 10" and one set at 11". BTW, you will need to roll fenders for the 11" wheels and tires greater than 275.

Hope this helps.

Hi Kary, the reason I am asking that is that Joe have a set for sale (18x8 and 18x11) and I currently have a set of 265 wide tires S02 here. Either I buy a set of LM new (18x8 and 18x9.5) and use my existing tires or buy Joe's wheels and buy 4 new tires (s03) and roll the fender.

Having said that, it seems to me that you are happy with the existing S-02's and are willing to keep them. Why not buy the right wheels which fit?

IMHO 265 are too narrow for an 11" wheel and I would stay away from that combination - I personally would not put 265s on anything larger than a 10" wheel. Assuming the offset is correct then you can fit an 11" wheel but you will most likely have to roll the fenders - not a big deal really if you have access to someone with the TechArt tool. If you don't want to deal with this get the 8.5"/10" as Viken suggested. I have 285 SO2s on 11" rears but my wheels are not BBS.

ele,

Let be more specific. There is no reason to buy a set of wheels of a size that is of little use for your application. Again, I have been down this road with Joe and it is not a fun place to be. He is unloading wheels he has used or someone else could not get to fit. 265's are too small to fit on an 11" wheel. Get the right size for your needs!

Thanks. I will go with 18x8 and 18x10. I've found a place that sell the wheels new for the same price as Joe.

I'd go with 8.5" or 9" in front - you can fit 225s on these and later on you may want to move up to 235s or 245s to dial in some oversteer.

ELE....Here is the CORRECT information based on actual usuage not speculation.

I own a narrowbody 993 and I have 4 sets of wheels and I am selling a set of BBS TUNER 56ET wheels and a set of BBS LM wheels 56ET that I bought new last year. I have over $12000 tied up in wheels.

The BBS LM are 56ET and I have mounted and balanced 265/18 and 285/18" on the rear 11/18". It is completely within toelrance and works safely and effectively backed up by myself (street & racetrack) and Michelin and BBS.

If you want BBS LMs the ONLY sizes offered that will FIT a narrowbody 993 are a paltry 8" front or 8.5"front with a 9.5"/18" rear. This is factual & irrecfutable data. The 10/18" with ET65 wont fit just like 993TT Turbo twist rear wheels wont fit a 993narrowbody.

Therefore, given all of the above I bought 8.5"/18 front and 11/18" rear so the wheels fill out the fenders nicely (just like TechArt does) and just put on the tires that you want.

Since you were unsure about fitment I recommended the samller tires as they will do the job just fine and that is why I run them myself.
Have a great day!

The 10" x 18" ET65 will fit the narrow body 993 as perfectly as the factory 18" rear wheel which has the same size and offset. The widebody rear wheel is another story as it has a 40 mm offset.

Question

So if you want to mount 265's in the front you need 65 offset or 56 as Joe indicated on the narrow body?

And more so, if 10" (ET65) wouldn't fit (like you say) how come you can fit 11" (ET56) there?
(11", ET56 will come 3.7 mm more inside and 21.7 mm more outside than 10", ET 65).

I think 18/11" (ET 56) actually fits, just barely but if that biggie does, 10/18" should be just 'piece of cake', which, like Viken said, it is.

18x10 et65 is the offset for factory Turbo twist 18 inch wheels for the narrow body. How come the BBS LM 18x10 et65 won't fit?
