Edger,
I had my 96 Targa for almost 4 years now and since I replaced the RMS the same day I bought the car, I've had no other major problems. Replaced the window switch couple of times (cheap) and alignment every year.

No problems in three weeks I have had my early '95 993 - but no problems in past ten years based on service history. At 10 years old and 21k miles it runs like a dream!

These cars when properly cared for are almost bullet proof...I've had mine for 4 years and aside from the wiring harness replaced by the dealer (which was not causing me a problem at the time) I've been pretty free from anything (knock on wood).

Had my '95 for 4 months now. I've replaced the ORIGINAL front brake rotors (she squeeks no more). Fixed a fault in the front left turn signal. Replaced ORIGINAL spoiler curtain.
Service history shows engine compartment and hood lid shocks replaced after 8 years. Right front motor in convertible top replaced twice.
That's all folks....

I have a '96 993 and love it, no problems...except...the OBD II and Check Engine Light...which can be reset for a $99 tool from an auto store, that's it. I love the car, I was a previous 928S owner.

Lots of cars I've seen have had their clutches replaced within 40k miles or so but may have had to do more with user than anything. Lot's of stuff in archives. Seach SAI/CEL (secondary air injector/check engine light), valve guides for starters. Beware of the common problem with all of these boards. You tend to only hear from those who have problems with their cars. Very few write in to say "everythings great, no problems". Bottom line, search, read, listen to Rennlist and then make up your own mind. Good luck.

In 35k miles over 4 years (85K total) : wiring harness under warranty, one set of pads, two tuneups, 12 oil changes, one sunroof cable, one inner tie-rod end and lower valve cover gaskets. oh, and a couple of sets of tires...
The original clutch is on its way out and it is time to do the RMS.
A very, very reliable car in all, and the cost of ownership is reasonable. The build quality and engineering is incredible!

If it has OE shocks those will probably need changing. Other then light bulbs and some work on the cab mech. mine has only needed routine service. Now if we mention optional items on the slippery slope................................................................... ............................
