By the way. I gave Brian two F-1 tickets so he is going. Said he would probably drive up Sunday morning.

Porsche is in a bind because they only have sixes in production based models now. They must also stay under so many liters to remain gt3. Maybe the reason Porsche is building an SUV with an optional V-8 is not only to boost sales but also to beat BMW and the sanctioning body at the game with these "rules". Food for thought. SUV, V-8 based 996 GT3RS. Wouldn't be the first time someone dropped a V-8 in a 911. I discovered the true conspiracy behind the SUVs, so now we can all sleep at night peacefully again.

Jerry,

Thanks for the explanation. I've seen some magazine articles about a possible 928 successor with the Cayenne's 450 hp V-8, and even an article about an optional eight in a 911. Maybe you're right. Seems like there is a horsepower war raging right now, and maybe there is a practical limit with non-turbocharged/supercharged sixes (about 320 hp for the new 996, 340 for the M3).

Good news about Brian.

Nathalie is ninth on the list at Don Jacobs for the E46 M3, but at the rate that they are receiving them (two or three to date), it's likely to be a long wait. Even without the "new twelve" , it should be a nice car for hauling the munchkins around. They won't fit in the 993 forever!
