I found a full set of HDs for $1100 at AJ-USA with free shipping. I'm assuming these are the same shocks you can use to lower to RoW spec. I have not bought from AJ-USA or Gert, so no comparison except price on my part. Anyone bought from them before? There is only one set of part numbers for HDs on the Bilstein website, so I'm assuming they only make one set regardless of Euro or US spec height, yes?

Thanks for the clarification,

Thoughts on Gert's system on your car still desired.

Adrienne,

www.shox.com has them for $1,059 (I do not know about shipping). It should fit the 15-20mm (6/8") that Gert's spring get you, but I think you need the sleeve that Craig is selling to make it go down to 40-45mm lower. I think that is how it works.

Mike,
I was looking at the pics of your car and noticed the center arm rest. Where did you get them, and how much were they. I have always thought they should have those but was unaware that someone makes them.

Adriene - From what I understand, only Gert has the ones with the extra thread - soemone jump in here if that is no longer true. The fronts don't have enough threads to allow enough lowering for many people's taste. To do that, you'll need some Herge's sleeves.

Agdamis - will advise when it's installed. I know Viken had this setup on his car, and liked it a lot. also DJ, a resident hot shoe, drove viken's car and was pleasntly surprised at it's perfomance. Search may turn their old posts on the topic.

So to be clear, if you have lowering springs (ROW M030 for example), you do not need the threaded HDs from Gert? You can get by with the non-threaded variety?

Craig,

Are you going with the 15-20mm drop? Is what Viken had done?

Yes, if you want realtively modest levels of lowering. And to be really clear, both types have threads, Gerts' just has more of them.

Haven't decided yet. Will probably decide as it's installed. Not sure what Viken did, but IIRC he was the person who Herge developed the sleeves for, so he wanted more than the springs and regular HD's would provide.

I found this site through P-car.com. Linked below is their suspension facts page which includes an article by Viken regarding exactly what you are all discussing.

Guys,

Gert indicates that with his set up you can go from 10-15mm to 30mm to 45mm. Which is the desired height? What is the European ride suppossed to be?

Viken,

Thank you very much. I have a US S, so I should be looking at about 30mm. How do you like yours?
