For those of you looking for a well thought out and "factory" look armrest(s) for your 993's, here's a great option....
Porsche offers this Tequipment kit that is available in all the interior colors. The kit is called a "retro-fit arm rest kit".
Right side is p/n 000-044-800-58-interior color.
Left side is p/n 000-044-800-59-interior color.
Installation is simple. The armrest assy bolts to the seat itself and swings up and down. There is even a **** (you can see it in the photos) that adjusts the "rake" of the arm rest in the down position.
For installation, you remove the inboard plastic piece on the side of the seat back. Remove two bolts, install the bracket and one new bolt, drive in a roll pin and it's done. Takes ten minutes with the seat on the bench. Looks like it would be a PITA with the seat in the car.
Price was $238.47 each seat. I bought mine from the Porsche dealer in Buffalo where I buy my parts and they gave me a good price. His name is Dan Gabamonte and will do a cc order if anyone wants the kit(s).
Phone number for Autoplace Porsche is 716-633-5200. Delivery took about three weeks, as they come from Germany. This was the lowest price I could find. I spoke to Dan and told him he may get a few calls.
Reminds me of the guy at the airport that was building an experimental plane. When the fuselage was done, he'd sit in it on a cushion and make "zroomm...zroomm...." noises.
Great find! I looked all over for different options before selecting my bird armrest. Oh well . . . guess I didn't look long enough. Eager to see photos of the seats come Spring time...
I stumbled on this option thanks to Patrick (Autobahn) in Germany. He was knd enough to send me some photos of this Tequipment option on his seats. Then I was able to find the kit in the PET Tequipment section.
I gave the Porsche parts guys the p/n's. They hadn't heard of these kits before.
They are in the PET as Joris describes above. However, all you really need is the RH and LH part numbers (my original post) and your interior color. There are no installation instructions with the kits, but it is pretty intuitive. As Patrick said, they WILL NOT work with the optional sport seats.
If you buy the kit or have any questions, call me at the office during the week. I have a file on this upgrade. 800-333-0519 x 106.
