Need picture of 993 Sport Seat Rails
Hey Guys,
I am considering purchasing some 996 Sport Seats to stick in my 944 however the 996 and 986 have different seat rails then the 944. The 993 however has rails that bolt into the 944 no problem. Since the sport seats are identical in looks between the 996 and the 993, I was curious if the only difference was the seat rails. If anyone could post a picture of the bottom of their 993 sport seat to show how the rail bolts to the seat I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance.

Kim,
I have a picture of the 996 sport seats from the seller. I do not know exactly what the bracket on a 993 seat rail looks like either on the sport or regular seat (I have a 944). I do know that the 993 Sport Seat looks identical to the 996 Sport Seat but the rails are different. If the rails mount up to the seat in the same fashion, then I would be able to simply use the 996 seats with 993 brackets. If you could either post a picture or email one to me at maciek.kepka@richmond.edu I would be very grateful. Thanks for the response!

i would love to find a way to make 996 (or even 997 ) sport seats fit in the 993.
It seemed that it didnt work due to different rails as well as different power adaptors. It would be great if we can find a solution as there are many more 996 seats avail than 993 sport seats.

Do a search on 996 GT3 seats... I recall a few threads where people got the 996 GT3 seats to fit into a 993. I think all they did was elongate a hole in the mounting bracket.
If that's all there is to it, then other 996 seats should probably be the same.

Maciek, These are the rails I bought from Porsche to fit GT3 seats in my 993. Also where they fit in the car. That nasty colour and dirt you see is mainly the remaining glue from removing the insulation and carpet. Many places sell them at 1/2 the price than what I bought them. Check Gert www.carnewal.com among others

Jean and Jeff,
I believe that the GT3 seats are originally a sidemounted item and therefore they have brackets that will work for the 993 and the 944. The regular 996 seat rails have a slanted piece in the front and a few guiding pegs in the back that are not flat like the 944 (and I assume) 993 seat rails. I will look into the adapters, but I have already called a few race shops and they all say that they carry adapters for the GT3 seat, but not the regular 996 seats. Thank you very much for the ideas though.
Kim, you have a PM. Also, are the softback sport seats you have the ones with the 964 part number? If so, are those for sale as well?
