I like the top and bottom ones. If you have aluminum accents I would say the top if not, then maybe the bottom.

So - I notice alot of people go with the "non-airbag" wheel. Why is that? Aren't airbag wheels much safer in an awful accident? Are these no airbag wheels most specifically for cars that have a racing set up with a "safer cockpit", or do regular folk like me trust that a no airbag wheel is 'perfectly safe' for my stock 993? I can't imagine a scenario in which a head on collision accident occurs and the non-airbag wheel is going to keep me safe...

Excuse my ignorance on this subject - but why would someone in my situation go with this cool looking, but "seemingly not as safe in a very bad accident" non-airbag wheel?

By the way, I like #1 It's meaty, beefy, big AND bouncy.
This is what I am pining away for: Oh yeah - leather airbags - one day...

I did some thinking about this non airbag steering wheel and an airbag is indeed a must.
So what are the options in a nice steering wheel with airbag?

I've had Momo Competition (third wheel pictured) in my previous car and liked it quite a lot. The only issue was that leather was glued and not stiched - it started to separate after a while.

I don't like a lot of cuts, ribs and intricate details on the wheel, and both first and second one have them. Competition is a very simple, extremely comfortable wheel without any seams in leather.

So, I guess an airbag IS important to many of you. Glad I was right on track there .

This one ain't too bad if you're looking for a $1600 wheel including the sumptuous airbag!

Three schools of thought regarding airbags:

#1. You are wearing your belt and in a proper seating position. Why have an explosive charge aimed at your face to break your elbows (if you are turning at the time), break your teeth, and in the case of contact/glasses wearers, blow a lens into your eye? No airbag is best.

#2. Ah, but the airbag cars all have seatbelts designed to "stretch" a bit and bring you closer to the wheel anyway, so you'd better swap your belts if you have 'em.

#3. I like the airbag and believe it will protect me.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of airbags, so I'll probably swap my wheel at some point and put a better harness in there. The fundamental premise behind an airbag is to save someone too stupid or lazy to belt up. If you look at Formula 1 cars, they don't have airbags. Nobody who expects to crash uses an airbag. Instead you belt up and take safety precautions.

And I vote for one of the two top wheels. The third wheel seems to me like it would be perfectly at home in an Eighties Carrera; the top two have a more "modern" feel to them.

Actually... No. Many cars have/had an interlock switch where the bag would not deploy unless the driver (or passenger) is buckled up. The reasoning is pretty simple - the bag will break your neck as it stops your head while the rest of your body slides forward.
