spring comparison...

There is a set of M030 RoW springs of a 97TT car, 10,000 miles on the springs, for sale in the Rennlist classifieds. This is what I have on my car along with the M030 RoW struts and shocks. It works great for me. My car is now a wee bit taller than 993RS specs....or so I have been told.

Do the TT rear springs have a higher spring rate than a NA spring? I thought I read somewhere about that.

Three Wheelin'
Chaz,
It's interesting that you say the Eibachs w/ the Bilstein HDs give a slightly firmer ride than stock, since Nol's spring rate figures suggest that the M030 is firmer than the Eibach (your car had US M030, right?). I wonder whether some info is incorrect (Nol suggested that it's hard to be certain about the factory spring rates). Maybe it's the Bilsteins? Or perhaps it's just new parts versus somewhat worn old parts?
The highway ride remains comfortable for long trips?

Burning Brakes
Todd,
its definately slightly firmer with the Bilsteins + Eibachs, however the progressive springs seam to absorb the everyday road bumps very well and then really firm up or kick in when you turn into corners etc. There is definately less body roll as well. I did have US M030, and my original set up only had 35k miles on them.
The highway ride is very comparable to my original M030.
let me know if I can be of more help.

The car had the M030 option and the dampers are still 'alive'. Curious how much Eibachs, H&R, Hypercoils REALLY lower these cars?
Any experience with these?

It sounds like ROW M030 is the perfect option for you. They will match perfectly with your 'alive' M030 shocks. As far as I know, all the aftermarket springs will lower the car more than ROW M030.

Chris, How do you know your M030 shocks ar still alive, have they been replaced fairly recently?
I know mine are worn, I can tell especially going over small bumps like cateyes at lowish speed. IMHO even at low miles the degradation of performance by ageing should be noticeable. I honestly think fresh shocks with stiffer springs will outperform old shocks with softer springs on ride as well as handling.
Many a thread on this list about cars being transformed by new shocks. Hence I have only considered changing both shocks and springs together as a package, in a close call between M030 package and Bilsteins I've pulled the trigger on the Fancy PSS-9's more about that in another thread.
On the Eibach rates: since Eibach is an actual spring manufacturer, and in this thread already two different product numbers are listed I think there's a few Eibach options for our cars.
