Default CD trays wanted

Technical Service Bulletin 9506 shows the following CD holder that can be installed in place of the cassette holder located on the rear of the center console.

Exclusive Option X 53 Open CD tray for 8 CD's

Part # EXC 993 017 80 CD tray for 8 CD's

Does anyone have one of these they would be willing to part with, or know where I can find one? The dealer price is astronomical...

I have one in my car. It works well and is convenient but is located in an awkward location. There is a tendancy to hit it with your elbo when shifting. Everytime you do, the trays pop out and your constantly having to close them.

Not sure where to get them. Did you try LA dismantlers?

Thanks for the input, Mike. I tried partsheaven, easy, and oklahoma foreign, but no luck. Of course their inventory changes if someone gets unlucky...I hope that doesn't happen.

i have a new 5 cd holder that goes in that space. It is all leather covered, from porsche, and holds 5 CDs. They are not trays, but the CDs pop up when you press a little green tab.
It was not cheap.

Hi Rob,
According to the Tech Service Bulletin, these were made in 5 and 8 CD capacity. Porsche calls them "trays", but I understand they are pop-up holders, similar to the ones that pop out on the newer cars. I'm looking for one that holds 8 to replace the cassette holder that is currently in my car.

Bobby,

Just a thought... if I'm remembering correctly on the price of those CD holders, you could install a cd changer for about the same amount of money.

Good luck tracking one down.

Kim is right on. I just saw one go on ebay for $181.96. $4 more than I paid for CDC-3 from Becker.

I used to have one that I shipped off to a fellow Rennlister. Obviously I did not like it. I was always hitting my elbow on it. You may want to try one out in someone else's car before going to the expense.

Good luck,

Rich, an OEM tray is about $15 now from Sunset (was $8 before the latest price increase). I have one in my car and like it quite a lot.

Hi Mike,
I may give up on the CD holder, and just put in a tray--do you by chance have the part number for the tray?
