No it isn't you! I've long thought these were outrageously overpriced- there are many more worthwhile additions available for your car for the same amount of money.
Kind of reminds of the $700 Porsche wanted for the "footwell lighting" option.

you can get sets for about 350.00(ask me how I know)..not nearly has nice..I have to clean them quite often(yellowing) etc.....so like anything else.....you get what you pay for! If i do it again, i would spend the $$$

Alternative to shelling out $500: get 'em chromed yourself.
Cost me about $70 over a year ago and they look as good as when I got them back from the plater, even after a bunch of (hot) track days. Just a thought if you want to save some dough.
BTW, I agree that $500 is waaay out of line for tips. Think of what you can do with the car for that much and all you're getting is chrome tips..., but that's just me.
