Post New look of an old hood.

I just want to share the look of my hood. The hood did not loose any weight, as a matter of fact, it gained couple pounds. I added the elephant-racing hood protection and replaced the bling-bling Porsche crest with silver one.

I'll take better picture next time.

Phil,

You can purchase the silver crest from By-Design 310.559.9670, I paid $125 at German Auto-Fest last week.

The stripe is part of the hood protection, it's a two-tone color (silver & black). Sounds like I'm a Raiders fan but I'm not. I wanted something different on the car so I ordered the two-tone color combination. The cost is $149 shipped to the door.

Initially, I was thinking of going carbon fibre hood for aesthetic purpose but I still want some sort of hood protection thus I went this route instead, much cheaper.

I already have 3M films cover the entire front bumper and splitter.

I hope this helps.

On the topic of the silver hood crests, I believe Ralph Boothe is the original source. You might want to call him for his pricing -- (626) 336-1396.

gloves, Phil... you need DE gloves to go with your helmet. Ooops...

I thought the silver crest was kinda pricey from By-Design (everything is expensive from By-Design but they sure have nice cars at the show). I always wanted one and couldn't find it anywhere else.

When you do replace the bling-bling crest with the silver one, make sure you remove the tabs from underneath the hoods. If you open the hood, you'll see two small holes where you can use 8mm socket wrench to remove them. Hey, maybe I should write this up as DIY and send it to Robin.

I'm still debating whether to go to Laguna Seca or Buttonwillow in Nov. I like Buttonwillow since it's much closer and it's on the weekend.

Heck, if you can turn and shift, then why not? For some reason, I have to use gloves, even for canyon run or long drive, I tend to sweat like a dog. Perhaps I should use chalks as well.

My car never made to any kind of coverage nor even car of the month. It's a sleeper.

Phil, you have been spending money and upgrading your car like crazy and you haven't even done a DE yet? Ohhhh... watchout because now you will see what everyone else has done and your itch will become uncontrollable.
