Question OT - Clubsport ?

Taken from Automotive News, August 12th - review of forthcoming vehicle models / changeovers.

Boxter Clubsport planned for Spring 2004 - low volume, lightweight, high performance Boxter

Cayenne Clubsport planned for 2005/06 with 600 hp 5.5 liter, twin turbo V8

The mind boggles on the latter - anyone else heard about these ?

Interesting info. Would never have thought it would be worth it to market/sell a Cayenne Club Sport?!

I still think the GT2 Club Sport for sale in the classified section of the Board is awesome.

Being a CS owner, I really hope they do the Boxster at least. The people on this board will at least respect a lightweight version.

BTW, did anyone see what BMW did with the 330ci Clubsport version that just came out. I don't want to put too much credibility with the mags, but they bashed it. I don't think the version is available here in the US. The press in the US beat up the '87-89 CS and actually wondered why someone would pay the same as a "regular" 911 for one that was "missing" a sunroof and a/c.

I think the problem with the bmw was that it was simply a tarted up 330ci. The weight was the same, just bigger wheels and stiffer suspension that didn`t work any better than standard with a price hike that brought it in reach of the superior M3. A cynical marketing exercise??

That's what the UK mags I read said in the tests. The spoiler they added looked ugly to me.
