I just checked the site and the rates have changed a little. The car I got was a 348TS you also needed two charge cards with at least a $10,000 limit. That may have changed also.

Just a reminder that cabriolets have AC too and it works just fine with the top down. Zipping around Napa or Sonoma with the top down is a great way to go. If it's 100+ and sunny, we just turn on the AC and leave the top down.

That would be a great ride down to the Hoover dam. I did it in a jag XJ-8 last year. Across the dam to the south one might just be tempted to arrange for an 'italian tune-up' if driving a 993.

Another great trip is to go North on I-15 to Utah and the Virgin River Gorge and into Zion Park... a fabaulous ride though not out of the heat.

Doh! The top goes up on a cab too. Real easy and real fast, like while waiting for a light to change. The rental outfits only give 100 miles free, so Death Valley trips and the like are real expensive and real boring for most of the trip. Hoover Dam is about 30 miles each way, but also boring unless you go at 6 a.m. Traffic is too heavy and Nevada Highway Patrol has too much radar to go fast.

Somebody posted a couple years ago about renting a Viper and winding it out on some remote highway. Do a search. It's just about 100 miles round-trip. Don't ask how I know, but the Ferrari and the 996 Turbo I rented had just about <ahem> 100 more miles on them when I returned them.

I rented a 993 cab like you're talking about. I found it to be more boring than a 996. As long as you're making the trip all the way out there, go for the gusto and do the 996 Turbo. You'll be glad you did.

May be boring from the inside but the 993 is much more pleasing to the eye than any 996, IMO. And isn't that what this is all about anyways, Porsche, Vegas, 993, strip, honeymoon?

It's all about looking good, eh?

BORING? BORING? How can the sound of the 993 with the top down full out be BORING? I have a coupe and with the windows up it's not boring. I rented the 348TS and I should have rented a 993 at the time if I would have known how much fun they are. Boring?........

I drive my 993 cab to Vegas whenever I don't fly or decide to go on an impulse, which happens quite a few times . No problem with AC, nor with having the top down except in summer. Not very many fun roads to drive around there though.

The loop up to Mt Charleston is definitely a good route. Watch the highway patrol heading out there on 95N though. The trip out to Hoover Dam is nice also. Timing is everything on that one though, sometimes get stuck behind very slow traffic.

Enjoy your trip out here.

Take the park road to hoover dam not the expressway, travel out to red rock north of the city. When you are out at hoover dam, travel over to valley of fire and then take the windy back route back into vegas. We did hoover dam and valley of fire as one day trip and red rock as another. Take plenty of refreshments because you spend a fair amount of time out in the rough.

I did it a few years ago with rent-a-vette and a 993c2 cab. Fun trip and definitely some good twisty roads. Did it just recently with a 'vette c5 and found out why I love my car so much.
