GTR,

Nice pics. Are the brake ducts functional? If so, what kit are you using for the tubing, etc.? I am starting to think that I could use better brake cooling at the track.

Nice!
I've seen these kits and curious what the quality of the fog lights are? I'm upgrading to the Catz HID lights and want to find a better looking (white not yellow) fog light option...?
I've seen these kits in the performance products catalog sold with (and without) the tubing. Not sure if they are on their web site or not.
Thanks in advance,
R

I bought the kit from www.stuttgartperformance.com (no affiliation) I had them paint the ducts also they cost $470.00 painted OEM Polar Silver. The lighting was less than adequate so I removed the lights and bought PILOT white lights and Wow what a difference.

I do not have the hosing but it can be purchased seperately through them I believe. In the near future I will upgrade the ducts with the hosing. I am installing PSS9's now so the funding is decreased substansially.

The PILOT lights that I bought fit perfectly into the slot behind the duct. It fits snug up aginst the inside and spreads the two clamps apart just enought to pressure fit the light housing in there when installed.

The lights I have a WHITE not blue even though the cover has a blue tinge to it. They are 55 watt lights and I haven't had any problem with them getting hot or anything because of the ceramic housing they are made of. They are extremely bright and light the road up. I wired them directly to the foglight wiring that you control with the switch inside. The lighting that is next to the foglight was disconnected.

What do you think of the afftermarket brake duct kit sold by Gert?

Hey Kim, this seems like a lot of work.

If you are going to do a custom setup anyways, why not scrap the front fog light as the inlet all together???

It seems you could make a scoop to redirect some air from the bottom of the car into a tube, and then redirect the tube into the rotor. You'd probably have less clearance issues since you don't have to worry about tire clearance.

Guys,

I just did the tubing (yesterday).

I used 2.5" 600 deg. F Aircraft Silicone tube I got from Racerpartswholesale.

I have foglight/brake duct thingys as shown on GTR993's car.

Like Kim said, running the tubes are pit of PITA...

Oil cooler (passenger) side is easier, there you can remove the aluminum plate (behind the plastic fender liner) and cut a hole to it easily. A/C (driver's side) is not so easy...

I made opening for aluminum plate with small steel saw (you'd have to remove the whole A/C radiator to be able to do it easily) and then bend it so that I could run the tube. Inside there was also one tight spot but I just forced my hand in there and was able to pull the duct, it WAS tight though (my hand is pretty busted )

After you have managed that, you obviously have to cut that plastic fender lining on both sides but that piece of cake.

Whole job took me and my friend about three hours to complete and when looking inside the wheelwhell, it looks nicely finished, opening for the duct in fender liner fits nicely etc.

Clearence between tyre and car is only about 5 mm now.
I pressed the tube (where tyre would touch) and it seems that it's ok. I think I'll press it even more but just to have little more.
I also put zip tie to that location si that it doesn't move.

From there, I attached the tube with zip tie to the point where brake line is connected on fender (not the brake tubing but above it, where the tube goes through the metal, I'd think the nut/bolt there is plenty strong) and then another zip to where sway bar is attached to the wheel hub.

Duct points straight to the opening next to brake caliber and blows air into the disk.
IMO, It seems that it should be quite effective, I'll test it next weekend at Moroso.
Duct also seems to be very flexible and moves nicely when turning the steering wheel.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take my camera , otherwise you'd have plenty of photos of all the liners removed etc. but I'll take couple of shots now that it's finshed.
But when you start taking things out and read my text, you'll fiqure out what I'm talking about.

I used 2.5" hose & that must be biggest you can do.
And that is squeezed little in couple of places.
I squeezed it to about half of that where tyre would hit).

Kim,

That's exactly where my pipes run.

Flattened aluminum pipe sounds good, although it seems that pipes I'm using work well too.

They're some kind of fiberglass type 'fabric' with steel cord running inside (like spring, sort of) and they keep their shape quite well.

I'll take some shots and post them here. Tonight is pushing, will propably do it tomorrow.

I like the Silver Front Hood Emblem. Where did you buy these from and did you have to do a trade with the old gold ones?

You're propably right Kim, size should be close, or maybe the Techart kit is 2"?

You already have those hoses coming through the fender liner, correct? Or are you doing this for your race car (I hate saying that! )?

If you have, it would be nice set up to make some aluminum flat section (screwed to the car) like you said and then continue again with a little tube to the brake.

Yep, I agree, sounds pretty simple.

Do you know what size duct those dust shields sold by AJUsa have? Is it 2.5" or 3" and do they sell them separately?

Great setup!! What is the exact brand/model number of the Pilot lights that you bought. I looked at the Pilot website but couldn't locate the ones that you bought.
