Now here is something cool that I took in Italy. The guy told me he had it painted in a Porsche color. It does look like something I have seen but he couldn't come up with a name.
Any guess as to what it might be?

Jerry's 901 is probably not the first 901 - it is one of the pre-production 901's built in 64' but the records get murky from there. The color is in question as well. the 993 is the last NA model - not 100% sure about any turbo's that were after it. check the DOT/EPA exeptions list for a differing view on the car (it was one of the exemptions listed)
-jerry feel free to set the record straight -
Mexico Blue - was also called Panamerican Blue (at least in 1969) - and is a little lighter than Rivera Blue -
Both awsome colors.....I would love to have one, it would be one of my first picks actually

my 1 rupee (in india right now )

Hey Rob,
How are ya?
Thanks for the definitive answer. I appears this question has finally been put to rest. Good work.
Cya,
Alan

AZ: You know I am not sure if this was a RUF car. It was a 996 RGTRS. I am pretty familiar with Mexico blue and it is not that. Mexico blue has much more grey in it. It is a more "dusty" blue. My body shop guy has a 71 911s that he restored and painted Mexico Blue, very nice but a very distinct difference between the two.

i wouldn't say put to rest actually - that would depend on the documentation on the car. Personally, i hope it is the first - it is always great to see a car land in such good hands.
Great bookends either way....

Doing pretty good actually - just looking for a gig that doesn't make me travel so much (east coast preferable) - shameless plug

This is Violetta.

This color is very rare here in Belgium, is it also rare in the usa?

IU wish my car was Riviera or Mexico (well, any of those light blues), I'd have "GULF" stripes in no time!
