Default What could be the lightest wheel out there

What could be the lightest wheel out there within price range of 3000$??

I was looking data and searched it but not all of weights I could find.

And how much weight can I save if I go for 17 inch?

Front saving will be alot I guess.

Will there be difference in total weight with tires on?

Oh...I am totaly in love with my C4S now.

Feels so wonderful!!

After all, most of feelings I had was just simple difference between 911 and rest of the car world!

There is no fixed saving. You may well find that the lightest wheel on the market is an 18" wheel because it is not available in 17'

What does that mean?

I think I know what you mean. The tires for 17" wheels are a little heavier, but again even different tires have different weights. There is no right answer.

My Veloce GT1 wheels are about 30.6kg/67.5lbs for the set. They were the lightest in the price range that I could find.

The MY02 5-spoke Carrera wheels are also light and inexpensive.

Jauder,

I think most forged wheels are fine for street use, as long as you avoid magnesium centers (e.g. BBS).

Here's some date I've accumulated from previous Rennlist posts. It might help with comparisons. I can't attest to its accuracy.

• Porsche Turbo I (previously Technology) - 19.95 / 23.36 lb
• 18” MY’02 Carrera wheels 18” - 20.50 / 22.70 lbs.
• 18” BBS LM - 22.20 / 23.25 lb
• 18” BBS RSII - 25.30 / 25.74 lb
• 18" Porsche Turbo Look I (solid spoke) - 25.57 / 29.32 lb
• 18” Sport Design wheels - 26.45 / 28.88 lb
• 18” (8 and 10) RS wheels – 26.45 / 29.21 lb

Where do Kinesis (street) wheels fall within this group? Or do they?

Oh...I got the idea then...

Thank you very much!

Now I know that wheels close to 20 or 21 lbs is the 'light wheel'.

Hi Grahamn, I'm glad you were not shy in posting the other day!!! Thanks again and just wanted to say I like your pictures and car. By the way, in his off-handed remark to me the other day, K whatever his name is, mentioned that you had won an award for your avatar picture. I would love to hear more about it and wanted to let you know that each time I see it, I admire it greatly. It is a gorgeous shot in such an beautiful setting. It really does deserve whatever award it got. Kudos to you.

My GT1 Veloces appear to be slightly heavier than Grahams but are still lighter than any in the list above.

Anir,

I don't know much about wheels, what is the drawback to a magnesium center wheel? Is it too brittle? I ask because I recall reading an article about one of the new exotic cars coming with magnesium alloy wheels as stock.

Thanks,
peter
