Default Accident Car - How much less would you pay?

Question: You are looking at 2 cars with 69K miles that are identical in all ways, except that one was in an accident that bent the front end. It was repaired perfectly and very professionally with all of the documentation. How much less would you expect to pay for the repaired car?

40-50% is what I would pay but it depends on the car. For a 993, probably more like 30-40% less than non-salvage comparable.

If you are talking frame damage then I'd stay away. If just a fender bender, come on guys! In L.A., with 69k miles? Especially the front end? Definitely should impact value but if a great car otherwise? My biggest concern would be resale value. $3k would buy a very nice front end paint job.

so a 75K Tt porsche in a minor fender accident with approx $3k in damage is worth 40K? Roughly. Hmmmm

I guess I read the phrase "bent the front end" to mean tub or frame damage. The phrase "fender bender" , at least to me, implies light sheet metal damage. Lots of potential buyers would steer clear of a car with tub damage since it may not have been repaired well or, most likely, they're looking for a perfect car. Tub damage usually falls out of most people's definition of perfect.

I read it the same way.....too many other cars for sale with that mileage to buy one with frame or tub damage.

Light sheet metal damage is another story. Perhaps the original poster could clarify.

OK, to clarify, the "accident car" had tub damage pushing the driver's side toward the passenger side. The car was put on a frame machine and brought back to perfection. Special care was taken to seam seal and paint just like OEM by a good specialist shop, with pictures of the work as it was done, etc.

Okay then, unless a great bargain, and you REALLY trust the guy who did the work, I would walk. I agree with Addison on this one. Lots of cars out there.

I was in a body shop with Ca993Twin (steve OFE) at a high end shop that sold Ferraris, Porsches etc.
they had a 9933 TT in there that had some damage repaired, the shop onwer said the accident even if repaired correctly would cause a 10% hit in value. That was from a pro. The owner said he would probably send the TT to auction.

Tough call. If it was major structural damage - ie, the driver's side WAS the passenger's side - I'd stay away, as I would not feel safe with the structural integrity in another accident. Minor accidents seem inevitable and repairable, but major is something else.
