Brad: Great write-up. Impressive effort. My biggest deterrent has been the thinning process. 50% seems to have worked for you and if the only downside is multiple applications, that is OK. Time is easy, big mistakes are not. Having been in a small-bigger-bigger still-oops position on DIY, nice recovery! Really looks good.

BTW, did you do anything special with the paint that was sprayed from a rattle can, before using the air brush?

No, I just sprayed the paint into my airbrush bottle and quickly resprayed onto the surface. Worked like a charm. Probably had 2-3 minutes spray time before it started to get gel-like from losing the thinners and propellants from the can. When that happened I simply flushed everything with thinner for a cleansing and repeated.

BTW, as an update, this repair was done several years ago and it still looks absolutely perfect. No defects, no yellowing.
