Post Too Good To Be True?

I just got the following email. Sounds too good to be true, anyone with any experience?

I have had an identical Email and as you say it sounds to good to be true, which probably means that it is!

I would imagine there are some copyright infringements going on here.

All the best.

Skip - I just got it, too, and I've received at least one of these spams before. This guy is "harvesting" our email adresses from Rennlist. He may be the same guy who sells these "manuls" on eBay. I think others have written that, although some of the scanned pages are illegible, it's a decent job. Still, I can't see how it's not violating Porsche's copyright on the manual.

I'd rather get the real thing and not subsidize this sort of operation.

Get your new tires yet?

The shop is mounting them as we speak. I'll pick them up tomorrow morning as we are heading to Orlando next week.

Sounds like they will stick good - you better watch out next time. It would be interesting to see how your setup of PSS9s w/ street tires compares to stock suspension w/ R compounds.

Have a great one!

I have seen the 993 Shop-Manuals on CD-ROM and the ones I saw were not complete. The few sections I needed ended part way through. It was also a difficult document to perform a search on. So I passed on a free copy and ordered the hard copy from MyPorsche.
There maybe better examples out there that I have not seen.

I think there are some copywrite issues involved. I picked up one of these on ebay a while back and, while it might be nice to have access to the info in the manuals on, say, a laptop instead of carrying around all the manuals, the quality of the copies is not great. No replacement for the manuals.

The fiche versions of the manuals aren't too pricey from myporsche.com, and they store nicely in a briefcase fiche reader, which was about $40 on Ebay.
