GT2 wing/Front lip Question
I just got back from a great weekend at VIR. It was the first time I noticed some minor aerodynamic high speed floating going on. I am thinking about installing the 993 GT2 style front lip and rear wing. Is there any real aerodynamic benefit to these parts or are there others that are more effective. I have seen front bumpers with a canard type piece mounted on a 45 degree angle at the sides of the front bumper. For the rear I have seen these high banana style wing. From a purely aerodynamic point of view which type is most effective. I am not asking about what looks better just what is most effective from an aerodynamic stability standpoint. Thanks

Keith,
Sounds like someone got bitten hard by the track bug. If you take a sledge hammer to it, it might relinquish its prodigious grip. While you're changing the wings/splitters, you may as well get a Motec system, too.

Mark,
It is always good to talk to you. It was great to meet your roomate too. My question is purely from a safety standpoint you know . See you at SP in early Oct. ?

Keith,
Aaah, yes, the safety card.
As it turns out, there was a dog agility convention at the Comfort Inn, so I no longer had to go into my "Delta Force" mode to sneak Rudy in. It's nice to have my buddy at the track.
I'll be back at VIR for the club race and won't be at Summit, unfortunately. Have a great time!

Keith,
The GT2 rear wing generates a lot more down force than the TT tail. The TT tail is more for smoothing the flow off the tail than it is for downforce (although it does do some good there). It is also a good match to the GT2 front bumper (you are going to need to get a narrow body nose BTW if you do this). The ways to improve upon this are to get the wing up into the airstream near the top of the roof, and then also to make it wider. Then you will need to add some more downforce with either those winglets at that 45 degree angle you describe, or with an EVO type front spoiler (I have one in my garage I'll post a pic later), a splitter, etc....
Sounds like you are getting in pretty deep there Keith.. Cool!!!!!

That's right, I forgot about the race. Duncan that was next to me in the paddock was testing his 850hp race car for the race. He said he ran out of gear doing over 170 mph on the back straight.
Anyways good luck to you Mark.

I highly recommend getting a rear wing with a leading edge blade and a more aggressive front splitter. I hated my car on higher speed big tracks until I added the factory 993 cup car aero parts. Now the car is stable at all the speeds I have been willing (or able) to take it to.
Good luck with your slid down the slippery slope!

I think it would be awesome to see a widebody setup like Viperbob's but with the RSCS rear wing. In other words, a WB with the RSCS body kit (which would force you to go to a narrowbody front bumper, just like viperbob).

Bob,
Thanks. Fast is good. Faster is better.
I was thinking of using the FVD front lip and they show a chin as well. I don't know if that is of any value or not. For the rear the GT2 adjustable wing. But if the higher wings are more effective I am in. If you have anything painted in black let me know.

Keith, all you really need to do is get someone to craft a metal lip under the front splitter to get more of a lip out front. It would cost about $150 if someone did it for you. That is what I did, it also provides more strength to the factory three piece front splitter.

I guess that is the answer I was looking for. If you have the GT2 front lip get the GT2 rear wing. If you have the high Banana wing you should have the kanard 45 degree angle pieces for your front bumper. I would think balance is the key.
