New Tire Machine - Totally Touchless...
We got a new tire machine in the shop. It is the coolest one that I have seen. It comes in Ferrari red as it is also the official tire machine for Ferrari dealers. The nice part of the machine is that there is NOTHING on the machine that touches the wheel. The ams and levers are controllable down to .10 inches, and are computer controlled for the proper radius of the tire. All in all, and unreal Star Wars inspired machine.
This was 2-3x what normal machines cost, but how many of us have taken our tires someplace, and found damage that the shop says "that must have already been there". I hate that and I did not want a machine where I or anyone else had the possibility of damaging a wheel. The machine even pics up the tire and mounts itself... Good for the old back....
If you are looking for less hassles getting your tires done in the future, look for a shop that invests in this type of equipment......

Bob,
That's the Corgi machine? I saw it demonstrated at a Ferrari event at Summit Point (West Virginia). It is amazing. Your customers are very lucky they have you to deal with.

You are correct Richard. It is the Corghi Artilglio Master. It was expensive, but I figure with the extra level of customer service, and lack of repairs required in our market space it will pay for itself in the first year.... And it just looks so darn high tech.....

Awesome machine. This just exemplifies the quality shop you have there VB. I would feel 110% comfortable to have any work done at your shop. Why did you have to move to the other side of the country!

I'd be joining the queue if I lived 4000 miles closer...

I have seen one of these machines myself and they are really impressive! VB, it sounds like you made a good investment. Even the best "touchless" machines that we have in my neck o' the woods can leave marks.
Enjoy your investment!

Sweet, totally what we need locally. Try explaining the cost vs. benifit to the local Audi+Porsche dealer here. Always amazes me when the SA tells me the rim "musta been damaged before you brought it in Sir..."

this machine is awesome. i watched bob change a 285 on a 10" rim (which is what most people break a sweat doing). He didn't even touch the wheel. After witnessing it - i told him he was cheating using that machine.

The tire shop I went to had one of those. They got in mainly to mount all the 26" and 28" low profile tires (bling-bling) for the hummer / SUV crowd. They said a convential tire machine would tear up rim and tire when they go that big. It worked perfectly on my rims (18"- no bling for me), good choice.
