Do we even know what this part is prior to backing it up?

Problem is, staying legal in the D stock class. Weight reduction and cams are not an option. I agree with all of the above if for a street or DE car.

If anyone is willing to spend $100 per hp, then you should install a supercharger. It's cheaper, and I guarantee you'll feel THAT!

i'll spend $100/hp and buy 50 hp today. However a supercharger is not necessarily the way to go. I just spent a great deal of time looking at superchargers and decided against it. here are my thoughts:

1.i think the 7th injector is crap!!!! Anyone who wants to dump fuel into the air intake - well let's just say that is a less than acceptable design! the right way to do it is to modify either the computer and/or injectors to deliver more fuel.
2.the idea of having something that is not CARB legal is not appealing.
3. remember adding HP adds heat. so for our cars i would assert that a secondary oil cooler is a must.

overall as far as i can tell no one has done the R&D to develop a good kit. near as i can tell the VW superchargers go for 3-4k and can be installed with hand tools in 5-6 hrs. they are also smog legal (CARB certified). once we get a kit that does that - then we have a viable solution.

Cheers,
Boris

just my 2 cents.

Not for me either. I'll spend it on rear tyres instead, or the next track day.

Agreed, but afaik that can be solved quite easily by skipping the extra injector, using larger injectors all round, and using a programmable computer like Unichip instead of the supplied black box.

i have a whole list in a spreadsheet. if you want to send me your email i'll send you my spreadsheet. I weighed every single component. The latter ones are not just accurate to the pound but to the ounce.

Cheers,
Boris

Boris and all,
If you look at the history of "Robert Lintons" posts....you will realize a few things.
1) nothng he posts is EVER for sale!
2) and If it was for sale.......it is in the catagory of "WTF"
3) 5hp x 100.00........jeez.....at least some of the "muffler" guys had some "sell" to there product
4) 5hp on a dyno?...well at least its a modest gain

damn you guys are harsh, 5HP at the wheels, I dont know if you feel it in the seat of the pants dyno, but lap times are different, besides, where is that 5 HP? what does it do to the power curve? it could give you five more PEAK HP and help flatten out your curve and provide more USABLE HP, you know, but dont blast the guy untill hes had a chance to prove his product besides if your class is mod limited, and you've already done everything you can do, then is a sneaky 5 HP worth $500?,hell yes and 5HP is like roughly dropping 50lbs, you gonna find another 50lbs to shave out of your 993? haha I got a hot blade in my tool box if you wanna scrape off the undercoating (i got 80 lbs of it out of my old Rabbit, it weighed in at 1700lbs depending on tire/wheels with around 200hp weber carbed 16V 2.0l that would destroy a Porsche on a road course! look in next months EUROTUNER for Eurosports rabbit that kills AMG's and 500HP S4's hehe)

besides they do add up, what does three, 5 rwhp mods equal it the crank? about 18HP

and 5 hp isnt going to make your motor run any hotter.

Curtis (long time old school member here) in Tamp Bay has about 40k mils on his supercharged 993 without a single problem. No new computer, no new injector, no intercooler, just lots of hard driving and 100 extra hp. I have driven it a lot and it is fast as s*&$. Think it gets hot and sticky in Tampa Fl?

As for 5 hp, I would bet money that not only will no one here would feel it, I would wager that 99% of the drivers wouldn't see a difference in lap times either. RL makes me laugh. His stuff is cool, but for two plus years I have heard about this and that for the type 993, but haven't seen one person with one part on their car.

And finally, for those that think 5hp + 5hp + 5hp really adds up, you better be careful. More times than not these things don't work in harmony with each other and you end up losing overall power throughout the whole rev range. That is why the good tuners sell kits and not a part here and there.

Caveat Emptor.

PS - did I read in this thread about RL drain plugs?
