Where to mount fire extinguisher?
Does anyone have a good idea on how to mount a fire extinguisher for an event I am going to next week. The tech sheet specifies "firmly mounted within easy reach of the driver. Metal strap required.
Thanks for any ideas.

Most organizations allow you to rmove your belts in order to gain access to the fire extinguisher. To that end, Brey-Krause makes a nice mount for passenger seat rails...

... in front of the pax seat.

The Brey Krause piece mounts directly to the front of the passenger seat at the frame rails. It works very well there... No drilling required. Just remove the front two bolts on the seat rails, insert the mount between the frame and the rail and reinstall the bolt. About a 5 minute operation, so it is also very easy to remove if you do not want it between events.

I did a search and found the Brey Krause mount on line. It looks like the one to use and it is only $70. I'll have to get on the phone tomorrow and see if I can get one before Fri. I saw a dealer in Reno which appears to be the closest to me. Does anyone know of a source?

I would strongly avoid using sheet metal screws to secure a fire extinguisher. If you wreck and the bottle comes adrift, you might find yourself eating a halon sandwich. Not too tasty, but if your dentist doesn't already own a Porsche, he will after repairing your teeth.

Randy - I was in a situation similar to yours - I needed a mount and didn't have much time, so I attached it as shown below (I used self-taping sheetmetal screws). That was three years ago and it has been working fine. I see no reason to spend $70. The holes are so small that they will not show through the carpet if I ever remove it. I have also seen people mount it horizontally on the hump between the rear seats, but in my case, that would be in the way of my girls.

Mark - I never thought of that. I guess I need to order one of those B-K mounts. On the other hand, I suppose I could BOLT it to my floormat in front of the passenger seat.....

Hey everybody
Thanks for the ideas. I am going to try to get the B-K mount before Fri. If that is not possible than I will mount it like Bob's for this one event.
Thanks
